Oh, and a whole line of the products will be what i need. Anything from an aggressive compound all the way to the final wax

Welcome the the forum. Well I think that you need to do some reading up on the subject and then assess the severity of the defects you are trying to remove and then you will have a better idea of what will be needed. There is a great free detailing guide right here at Autopia. Pad kits with a backing plate included whould be the way to go. Polishes and compounds are a matter of personal choice, just stick with the ones you read about like Menzerna, Optimum, Megs, Poorboys. My fav is Menzerna followed closley by Optimum.

I totally agree about reading up. Thats what ive been doing for the past few weeks. Im getting a dorr from the junk yard to practice. Thats why I want to get a whole line of stuff from minor compounds to heavy duty.

First of all let me say I`m not hawking anything here but I to have been reading and doing research on polishes and pad combinations. The following looks like a great set:

Reference Shine Kit (http://classic-motoring.stores.yahoo.net/reshkit.html)

and if you`re going to spend that kind of money, might as well go ahead and get this:

Advanced Swirl Remover Kit (http://classic-motoring.stores.yahoo.net/menpolandpad.html)

Obviously this is a LOT of cash. My other main concern is starting with Menzerna. I`m afraid if I got this and ran into dusting issues I`d just end up frustrated with the learning curve.

I`m really struggling with this one. A part of me says just to get this:

PC and Pad Kit (http://www.autogeek.net/hk7424.html)

and go with the Optimum polishes (OP, OC, and OHC). I realize these products do not break down as quickly but I`ve not read about major dusting, hazing, or hologramming issues. It seems to me this might be a good compromise with something that can get the job done with less frustration while learning.

http://www.wolfgangcarcare.com/wolfgang-pc-kit.html

after being on this site for a couple months, i have done a lot of looking around for a nice pc, and this is the one im getting, setting aside a little fund every time i detail(most people wouldnt consider it detailing without the pc, its all hand done, but still looks good). one more car and im going to get that... i think its the way to go, gives you the step by step process, and people on this site(experts haha) seem to like the wolfgang product. Easy to use, yet great results supposovely. As for a carnuba...probably p21s, but i dont know if you even need it with that kit.

Well my two cents haha.
