Has anybody used the rubbermaid tire dressing applicator? It`s sold at Target and looks pretty good. Just want to see your suggestions...

How much is it?

I`ve seen it. I think it runs in the $5 range.

I just can`t see that being something you can throw into the wash with the rest of the dirty cloths.

I have a 99 cent Eagle One tire swipe that is significantly smaller, but it has a deeper sponge that holds dressing well and applies nearly perfect.

If I remember correctly, $3.99. Same price on Amazon. If I buy from Amazon, then no tax, no shipping (amazon prime) :)

It doesnt look as though that swipe has much foam to it, it may splurge out of the sides with any pressure, go for E/O tire swipes, the standard on Autopia,

Just curious, how about those foam packaging thingys that are used for mailing things? The foam seems to be exactly like the foam on the tire swipe.

IMO, the EO quality has fallen off.

The past 4 packages (bought at different times/places) I`ve purchased crapped out after only a few tires. Whether it was the foam shredding or the two pieces disconnecting, I didn`t like it.

Since then, I`ve gone back to a foam, hand applicator.

I`ve tried it and I can say without reservation that it`s one of the WORST

accessories I`ve ever used...uncomfortable , no flexibility and you might could

actually spread dressing better with a slab of broken concrete. (But , I digress).

I`ve gone to using regular old dish sponges...works for me.

I`ve been using the el-cheapo tire applicators from Harbor Freight. It`s like $2 or so for 3 sponges (or was it $1?) and yeah, they separate fairly quickly, but work OK and they`re cheap.

I do think the basic idea Rubbermaid has looks decent, but their handle is too much. I`d like to try something like a curved painting pad with replaceable pads for a basic handle and a bit more sponge than the painting version.

Agree 100%. Very disappointing. I`d like to try the Griot`s Garage applicator.
