For a first time clayer, on a car with paint still pretty smooth, what brand would you recommend?

I may be new, but I learned this the first day....

Make sure the car is in a cool area, and make sure you cool the hood down if its hot with a hose or something. Otherwise you will find your arms very tired from wiping off excess lubricant :)

Mothers worked great for me.

Just stay with a reputable supplier/name/brand........lol

You`ll be alright.....

FWIW in side-by-side comparisons I greatly preferred Sonus over Mother`s (and the apparently identical Griot`s). Less residue, better cleaning, all around better.

But yeah, you`ll be OK with any of the major brands. People sure love ClayMagic.

Claymagic because I`m a cheapskate. Will definitely try Sonus since it is cheaper with a special online.
