What is the best and preferred way to clean air vents?

I have an 01 Audi A4 and am trying to figure out the best way to get dirtry vents clean.

Some people use Q-Tips. I like to spray the vents with whatever cleaner I`m using, agitate the dirt with a detail brush, wipe as much dirt as you can on your rag and blow it clean with and air gun connected to an air compressor.

On some vehicles it`s easy to pop out the air vents. Then I will take them and wash them in the kitchen sink with hot water, soap, and a brush. I`ll also do this with cup holders or any parts of the center console that will come apart. Most newer Toyotas and Hondas are pretty easy to take apart. I`m not sure about the vents on an Audi A4.

i`ve used a very small screwdriver (front taped off) and wrapped/folded a small microfiber towel around it and pushed gently in the air vent and cleaned...

Audi vents don`t come apart readily. I use the swab/MF-on-a-stick approach. Don`t just blow the dirt back into the ductwork or it`ll come right back ;)

If the vents are just lightly dusty then I turn the A/C fan On and use a soft Meguiars detailing brush to clean the vents. Then I will proceed with detailing the rest of the interior. I do the vents and other dirty parts first, so that I don`t have to re-vacuum the carpet.

Also, you might want to look into some of the Spray Away products. I currently have the Instant Shine and love it for door hinges, etc
