Had a very busy weekend of details, not much time for sleep, but I have tomorrow off. :D

First up(Friday night) was a Lincoln Navigator that was purchased from a dealership, then immediately taken to a local speed shop for heavy modification (10 grand plus), I was contacted by the shop to the detail. I really can’t believe that a dealership would put this on their lot without at least attempting to remove the swirls—or even waxing it. The paint was faded, etched, and swirled—overall very poor condition.

I picked the truck up around 4p, I didn’t stop cleaning, washing, and buffing until about 3a. I delivered the truck the next morning around 9a.

Here’s the before:

This is after—

Wash

Clay

Buff with Hi Temp Extreme Cut/ Optimum polish 50/50 mix via rotary @1500 RPM’s

Buff with 3M perfect-it III machine glaze @1400 RPM’s

Buff with Menzerna Final Polish II via PC @speed 5

Apply two thin coats of Meguiars #21.

The paint was a mess, but is much better—it will never be perfect.

On Saturday I had a blue STI, this was more of a maintenance detail as the owner always keeps the car looking great. The only real issue was with the headlights, which I polished out.

Wash

Spot clay

Apply Meguiars #80 via PC @speed 5

Apply two thin coats os Meguiars #21

Headlights were polished with 3M perfect-it III rubbing compound with an orange spot pad.

Now for Sunday---what a car!! This Z06 has less than 7K on the clock, but was very marred up. Every time I forget how hard the clear is on these cars, I detail one and I painfully reminded. IMO, the clear coats on these vettes is the hardest around, I find it much harder than the Mercedes ceramiclear.

At any rate, this was an exterior only detail that took just under 9 hours to complete. The owners were some of the nicest people that I have ever met. They constantly checked on me, offering me water, etc and they even made me a batch of homemade chocolate-chip cookies to take home. You just can’t beat that type of hospitality.

In order to correct this paint I had use some pretty heavy products. It’s still not 100% swirl free as the paint is just so hard combined with the deep marring. It also had random spots on the car where it looked like it had been buffed with a very dirty wool pad, leaving some of the deepest holograms I have seen.

Wash

Spot clay

Buff with 3M perfect-it III extra cut rubbing compound @1500 RPM’s

Buff with Hi-Temp extreme cut/optimum polish 50/50 mix @1500 RPM’s

Buff with 3M perfect-it III machine glaze @1200 RPM’s

Buff with menzerna final polish II via pc @speed 5

Pressure wash to remove dust

Dry

Zaino Z6 wipe down

Three coats of ZFX enabled Z5 pro

Z8 by hand

Tires dressed with Meguiars hyper dressing 1:1

You did an amazing job on all of them. What happened to the STi`s headlights? Those were bad!! IMO the guy with the Nav should havs spent some of that 10K and bought a cleaner truck with it!

Great work on all 3. I bet that Navigator was a major PITA. I can`t imagine polishing a car that late at night...I would pass out. The Vette`s finish looks fantastic, very liquid, especially the front quarter shot.

Great work on all three, especially the Navigator and Vette, they were both in really rough shape. I guess this is the weekend for horrible paint, I had a couple rough ones yesterday and one today. :nervous2:

The depth on the Vette is just unreal! :bow

Looking good! What type of dressing did you use on the Nav`s tires? Thanks

Thanks guys!!

Nothing really happened to the STI headlights, I wondered if it was a common problem with them. The car only has about 30K on her, rarely sees highway driving.

The navigator tires wear Meguiars all-season dressing--sorry.
