Has anyone tried the FK1 Paint Decontamination Kit, it reads like a good choice over a clay bar.

The decon kits are really good for cars that have severe contamanition. It won`t eliminate the need for clay, but the decon kits takes 15 more minutes than a wash, and will cut your clay time down from 1-2 hours(for REALLY bad cars with severe fallout) to 10-15 minutes, which is at least 30 minutes of time saved. I much prefer the AI system though.

Yes, I have used the system and it is very effective, but keep in mind this is more of an industrial/commercial type use product and is an auto manufacturer endorsed product to decon rail/boat shipped vehicles. That being said, all you need to do is follow the instructions carefully, mix to proper ratios, do not mix applicators, do not allow products to dry on car, and do utilize the sure scrub sponges as needed.

Notes: The system is designed to be effective across the gamut of environmental damage

Fallout, Acid Rain, Bird Crap, Hard Water, Rail dust. etc. Perhaps more encompassing than clay.

The 1119 does have an odor to it, and some do not care for it.

See this link for a discussion on clay - Don`t get me wrong, I use clay, as well, and like it. Probably a matter of personal preference.

I`ve only used the AutoInt system. IMO it`s a big step up over claying alone. Finally, the rust blooms are really *gone* from my silver vehicles..they used to come back when I only clayed `em because the clay didn`t get *all* the contamination out of the paint. I found the process to be very straightforward and easy to do.

I still clay, do it while the acidic step is dwelling and yeah, it does dissolve the clay quite quickly. I`ve been advised to try a "bug sponge" instead of the clay, but I`m leery of those things.

The choice between the FK and the AutoInt can get sorta, uhm... :argue but the benefits of a decontamination system are something we can all agree on.
