Adam`s sponges to apply wax?

I have a bunch of applicator sponges (the big grey square ones) that I bought from Adam`s polishes a while back. Could I use one (cut down to size) to apply wax or would that be bad? Thx.

I would just stick to a simple foam app. Those Adams apps are perfect for detailing trim, tires, and your interior.
