I gave a friend of mine a little help to detail this red Volvo with plenty of oxid. Anyone know when Volvo started to use clearcoats on this cars, 97-98?

Not so much shine here...just oxid.

To the right you can see how happy the paint was after gettin´polished

Left fender before.

Left fender after, no wax just polished.

Sorry no pics after the car was done, all I did was to polish it. My friend sealed it later.

Process:

Compounding:Menzerna PO91L with lambswool and Flex Rotary

Polish: Menzerna PO85U with top tool and polishing pads.

i guess i need to buy me some menzerna products but i just don`t know which ones to get. I have over 3k worth of stuff and for some reason never moved on to menzerna. What do you guys think, IP, FPII, thats all i know about it.

Amazing transformation. Could`ve sworn Volvo started using clear on their reds in 1998. Wouldn`t happen to know the paint code would you? Kudos man. :2thumbs:

Looks great! Yeah, from my experience just about all Volvo colors were cleared in 98. Its odd that V70 was single stage.

Thanks! I tested a couple of combionations and Intensive polish with lambswool was the most effective way to remove the oxid, but I had to clear the pad with a tool after every panel. I also rinsed the pad in water 2 times, the first step took med about 35min, and the second 15min.

I used my new machine called top tool, made in Sweden. It´s basicly a cyclo with a Flex engine(from a rotary 1200w) and the pads are 5,2" You can adjust the rpm from 2200-6500 like a Porter cable. Gives a superb finish with the finishing pads and PO85U or PO85RD.

SVEcobraR: I have powergloss, intensive polish, PO85RD and PO85U(think it´s called final polish II in the states?)

These are IMO the best polishes in the world. If you have Intensive and PO85RD/PO85U than you can fix almost everything. If you have the right pads and machines.
