I got a watermark on the hood from what I think was bird poop. I washed it. Clayed just that section. Klasse AIO`d it. Then Klasse SG. No dice. The watermark didn`t even budge.

:doh

How do you get rid of those types of watermarks?

Polishing with a buffer and an abrasive compound should get out the etching.

Maybe you can use some bug and tar remover. If you are looking for an OTC product, I recommend TW Bug & Tar Remover, but the one that comes in the metal can, not the one on the spray bottle. The last one sucks big time!!

Yep...you`ll need to polish. It is amazing how quickly this happens. I had to spot-polish the hood of my wife`s fairly new Acura recently. The bird poop was on there less than three hours, and the finish had a coat of sealant and two coats of wax.

Often times you will not be able to remove the etching, as it can run deep - sometimes all the way down to metal. If you have a little 3000 grit paper, this allows you to attack the spot with a little more control...just let us know if you need help with this process. Otherwise, try an aggressive compound then follow with polish.

Try ScratchX before stepping up to a compound or sanding. If you`re lucky it may not be too deep.

yes the sad part about bird-bombs is they are sometimes not removable.

The same thing happened to me, unfortunately. Wiped it off as soon as I saw it, and yet there is still a mark I can`t seem to get rid of. I tried AIO and Prime to no avail. Haven`t tried polishing yet though.

Geez...bird poop is really brutal on paint! I feel like they purposely aim for my car!

@Pennypacker.. they do! The shine of the cars attract them. My solution.. Rotary @ 9000 RPM w/ 100 grit sand paper. I NEVER get bird crap on my car. You should try it, works wonders.

lol..autopia in reverse. Let`s see how dull we can make our finishes. I guess it will solve one problem! :)

Leave piles of cheese around your car. Get `em all stopped up.
