Cobwebs from Al Zarqawi(A.K.A....hell!)

This was a friends black Lexus that had been polished over a year and a half ago by another detailer. After a year of not being polished the paint was a nightmare. :angry



-washed

-OC using Sonus yellow pad

-Sonus SFX-2 using Sonus white pad

-50% of car AIO other 50% JW Prime(just for poops and giggles)

-AJ to seal the deal

Overall I was semi-satisfied with how it came out. I just couldn`t seem to get the glass finish with any of my polishes. No matter what I tried I had very minor micro marring that haunted me and probably will for about a week or so.:hairpull

Thank you GrayHawk! I noticed a little orange peel on the side panels more than anywhere. The top parts of the car seemed to have very little if any. p.s. you can see a small amount of orange peel in the shot showing my farmers tan.

beautiful work. I`ts hard to take pictures of swirls, but you did a good job.



The mircomarring you are talking about - I see it all of the time, as I specialize in paint correction work on black vehicles, so I do a ton of `em. Unless the a paint is really hard, most polishes will leave tons of little squigglies (were talking about DA of course), or gashes, visible under halogens and sunlight if you know what you are looking for. Unless you apply almost no pressure (which is a pointless activity), most so-called finishing polishes do this, however, FPII is one of the best at finishing without these marks and the new Blackfire SRC polish is even better; if the paint is real soft...I`ll even elect to go with a ultra soft pad like the white propel.

BRILLIANT!!!! I did notice that this paint was extremenly soft. I will have to purchase some FPII,SRC, and the propel pad. I told my friend that next weekend I`m going to do some more light buffing just to blend everything just a bit more. He didn`t notice anything, but I did. The paint did come out very glossy, but I know it can be just a hint deeper. Thanks for the tips RAG!

I agree with RAG. Mernerna 106FF is also a great light polish on softer paints. Clearkote`s Vanilla Moose and Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze also work well but are more suited for use with carnauba toppers. Black Infiniti G35s and Porsches are also tough to polish out and not end up with any hazing.



Paint still looks really good to me. :)

I`m glad that you told me that about the Porsche to because I have a black one in a few weeks :hairpull And I was just thinking today as I was doing this Lexus that I hope that Porsche isn`t going to give me hell like this Lexus :furious: HAHAHA!! I gotta cast a vote for 1Z Metallic Polish as a black finishing polish. It does contain fillers, and it`s not particularly suitable for use under a sealant, but its a winner on those real problem cases.
