Hi all,

After work today I needed to get the outside of the Tahoe cleaned up. I was pressed for time. (Seems that`s my sad tale lately). I did manage to try out the PC and some Optimum products.

The overall finish of the Tahoe paint (IMO) is pretty good. I did work on a scuff mark of some kind on the left rear cargo door. It stuck out like a sore thumb.

I also did a little on the hood as well.

I do have a question about my Optimum Polish.

If you have time, look HERE. (http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72223)

I was pretty pleased with what I accomplished this evening.

Process -

Wash entire exterior with Zaino car wash using Excel light sheepskin mit.

Dry with w/w towel.

Clay hood and rear cargo doors with Zaino clay using Megs QD as lube.

Reclean clayed areas with PB SnW and MF.

Hood got Prime Strong 1X and AJ 1X.

Left rear cargo door in the end got -

- OC with Excel Orange pad with PC at about #4, 2X.

- OP with Excel Green pad with PC at about #4, 2X.

- Prime Strong with Excel Blue pad with PC at about #4 1X.

- AJ 2X, buff with MF.

Tires got Black Magic Tire Wet.

Exterior black trim got Mother`s Back to Black.

The interior was done a few days ago HERE. (http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=71990)

The scuff mark is pretty much all gone.

I do notice more very slight fine scratches in the paint. I only notice them under lighting at close proximity. I could not capture them with the camera. I`m guessing cleaning the panel made them more visable. I feel strongly that I did not induce the problem with my process. I hope Bryan or Scott can get a look at them and confirm.

Comments on above process are welcomed.

Anyway - Here is my first "Correction" and attempt to using a PC. :heelclick

Are you the original owner of the Tahoe? It may have been run through brush car washes if it has fine horizontal straight line scratches. It is possible that using a really clear sealant combo that doesn`t contain fillers can make some defects that were previously hidden appear.

Hi Scott,

I guess I`m the third owner. The overall condition of the paint is pretty good.

I`m sure it was run through a brush car wash.

The previous owner does paint and body on the side. I`m wondering if he re-cleared the Tahoe.

I`m sure once I get some good lights and take a closer look, I`ll start seeing the fine scratches that you mentioned.

Nice work! I like how you picked up on that whole "reclean" step. I am finding that to be a key to a perfect finish. It reduces the chances of anything else being left on the surface.

What do you think of the Prime Strong?
