Hi

I’m new to Autopia. I have a MINI Cooper that was in great shape, till I got behind a gravel truck. It left very small rock pecks in the paint and windshield. All the pecks are very small you don’t see them till you get close to the front of the car. As for the windshield there is no cracks just very very small pecks in it, now it never looks clean.

My windshield has a graphic on it so I would like to save it if I could. Is there a way to fix the damage to my paint and windshield or do I have to take it to a paint shop?

One last question, it has a scratch on the rear bumper, it is fine and long is there a way to touch it up? Thanks for the help and sorry if this has been asked before.

i would try to wetsand the paint, polish and apply sealant to the front hood. If plastic bumper, I would simply go over it with a pc. Rear bumper if its plastic , re-paint as no da pc will be able to remove it. As for the windshield, you may try something from a windshield specialist company that will fill in cracks ?

i hope that helps somewhat

Well welcome to our world... Rock chips are the curse of the roads which none of us can avoid and help. None of our efforts and stuff we use can help against mechanical damage. Well I have a hood riddled with rock chips and seems that I have no other choice but repaint it...

fancy that; we pay a heck of a lot of taxes so the govt will keep the roads well paved and all. What do we get in return ? I wish I had an agricultural tractor to drive around these "pastorial paths" they call highways without a glimse of shame or embarassment !!! (And we still pay toll !) :furious: :angry

As noted, there are lots of "threats" to your car, no matter how careful you are, when you`re on the road. Yesterday, I was driving on the 101 south to the San Fernando Valley and a big 4x4 truck kicked up a crushed beer can and it popped right in the middle of the hood of my black Porsche! I nearly had a heart attack--it took me about an hour before I had enough courage to look at it. Fortunately, it appears to be a not too serious mark that I can polish out. The only cure is to keep the car in the garage all time =)

After hearing lots of good reviews on corvette forums I purchased touchup123 to try it for myself. It should be here sometime this week and I will let you know the results. They openly admit it isnt a perfect fix for chips, but it will help your car pass the 3 foot rule so it doesnt bother you as much..I will for sure post pictures of the process and results for others to see as I know this problem is found all throughout autopians.

Thanks--upon further review, there is a small dent where the can hit

However, it looks quites small and easily accessable for some dentless repair
