looks nice...did you do the wheels?

I did start to do the mags, but it was soo caked on and corroded that there wasn`t much point. Some parts were actually removing the chrome finish to get the stuff off. My friend said not to bother because hes picking up a new set soon.

Nice work! Bet your friend is thrilled with how it turned out.

I too am a big fan of the 1st gen RX-7, had one in college (identical to the one in this thread) and recently bought one as a time machine of sorts.

Is that the original ss metallic paint? If so, how did it respond to correction...some ss metallics have like a "built-in clear" where the clear floats to the top (metallic particles sink lower and the main pigment sinks all the way to the bottom) and can`t take much correction.

I`m asking as I never did any serious correction on my `81 and I don`t want to make a big "oops!" on my ~new `84 when I finally get around to it.

I think its original paint, and seemed to respond like any other car with a clear. I think it`d be around a medium hardness clear. Almost all of the swirls gone, and tons of pop.

I`d say it wasn`t too bad considering it is a 23 year old car. I have seen four year old cars much worse than that.

Great job on the swirl removal, the paint looks very deep and wet! :bigups
