I have a pretty badly swirled 2004 Mustang GT, and I dont know now if the Optimum polish with a cutting pad is aggressive enough to get them out. Should I have gotten some Optimum Compound also?

Maybe a few more passes with the polish? Looks like you got alot off...if not, definately go for the compound.

I didnt do any polishing yet, just asking if you think it can take care of those swirls?

Really? The second pic seems like it has less swirling...

If you havn`t tried anything yet, you sould ust go with whatever is least aggresive first. If after 2-3 passes nothings happening, it`s Compound time.

It is hard to have a firm opinion without seeing the car in person. Even on similar cars, the paint hardness can vary. Start with OP and move up if necessary. You can use a cutting pad if a polishing pad and OP doesn`t quite cut it but then you will have to move back down to a polishing pad if you get any hazing with the cutting pad.
