For those experienced rotary users out there, are foam pads (such as LC VC pads) safer to use than a wool pad?

If so, to what extent are they safer?

Can they achieve the same or similar results as a wool pad?

I want to make the step up to the rotary but am very aprehensive and want to start out as gentle as possible, but still get quicker results than with a PC. My goal is to practice extensively before putting it to use...

I am planning on using LC VC 8.5" foam pads to start out with.

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated!

Closed foam pads build up more heat then wool or waffle foam. There is little to no air under the closed foam pads. If you use a softer closed foam pad it will still build up some heat, but not as much as the "heavier cut" pads.

Thanks for the response!

Also, do you have a size recommendation?
