This vehicle belongs to my girlfriend`s mother and has haunted me since day 1. I can honestly say that I`ve lost sleep over this car.

They purchased it about 2 years ago with around 70k on the clock. It has 103k now and still looks like hell. The previous owner`s beat the piss out of the thing. Swirls were an understatement on top of the pellet shooting practice the front end took plus R.I.D.S. all over, haze, bad-repaint, sanding marks...I could go on.

Anyways, this is the 3rd time I`ve worked on it since they picked it up. My girlfriend`s father (god bless him) is VERY environmentally friendly. He uses the minimal amount of water to rinse, about 1/4 ounce of soap per 3 gallons of bucket water, an old chamois to wash/dry, and thats it. I`ve tried educating, but no luck. Other times, it visits the cheapest swirl-o-matic in town. I pretty much try to just keep the swirls under control.

Today, I did just that, try to keep everything under control. I was not concerned about full-anything fixes as I know the clearcoat is getting low. My finals were:

-Meguiar`s Hyper Wash

-TOL tire cleaner cut 50/50 on tires/wells

-Meguiar`s Wheel Brightener cut 3:1 on wheels

-Optimum Clay with Hyper Wash lube

-Hi-Temp Extreme Cut via rotary and LC Cutting Pad @ 1500 rpm on hood

-Menzerna FPII via rotary and LC Finishing Pad @ 1500 rpm on hood

-Zaino Z5 via rotary and LC Finishing Pad @ 600 rpm on entire car

-Zaino Z6 to touch-up

-Meguiar`s All Season Dressing on trim/tires

-Meguiar`s Extreme Shine Dressing in wells

This car is not perfect, nor will it ever be. I did what I could with what I was given.

Yea for what you were given it came out very nice. I also applaud you for the posting of the sun shot showing some remaining marring. :up

It just can`t always be made perfect.

Yep, some will not accept it, but in consideration of the thinning paint, I did what I could. No way am I about to reimburse $500 for a hood repaint.

how was the "sling factor" with Zaino Z5 via rotary and LC Finishing Pad @ 600 rpm on entire car ?

Thanks all.

tumbler: Zilch. The Z5 worked really nicely in the shady areas, but grabbed a bit on the sunny sides. All in all, if you kept the pad lubricated, there was no risk in marring. The Z5 hid/removed very minor defects and richened the colour of the paint. I was pretty happy with it as a one step although #20 or NXT would`ve been a better route (cut wise).
