I know silicone has been debated several times-and we know that there is a difference between silicone oils and silicone polymers. Some people are under the impression that silicone polymers are a low cost, low quality ingredient. I found something quite interesting. Plasti-Kote mades a HI- TEMP paint. The product description reads..." Resists heat up to 1500 degrees...Highly durable silicone resin paint covers surfaces with imperfections easily." If specific silicone resins are used for paint then maybe silicone resins used for paint sealants are more durable than many think. Maybe silicone resins aren`t the problem but rather the process used to bond them to the surface. Maybe the silicone resins penetrate the microscopic paint pores and bond with the paint and thus become "part of the cars paint" as some sealant makers claim. Any thoughts?
