I detailed my uncles engine today on his 1996 Ford Ranger because he is selling it. It has 170K miles and has never been detailed, hardly washed and I don`t think it has ever been waxed or polished. This was just the begining of my detailing adeventure with this truck. There were some spots on the core support, firewall and inner fenderwells that seemed stained and would not clean up. Here we go...

Procedure:
1)Pressure washed
2)Sprayed down with Meguiars Super Degreaser Diluted 6:1
3)Aggitated with brushes of all sizes
4)Pressure washed again
5)Sprayed down with Meguiars Hyper Dressing Diluted 3:1 for a satin finish
6)Wiped up access HD

Time: 30 minutes

cgc2: Roughly 30 minutes.

fatchance: I know what you mean, when I first opened the hood I was shocked! :eek I really wasn`t sure what to expect though considering it has never been done before. I actually disconnected the battery and took it out of the tray to clean it up and did the basic maintence on the engine as well (filled the terminals with distilled water, windshield washer fluid, checked the oil, tranny etc...)

save those pics for the next engine detailing contest. Cleaning up engines is my favorite part of the detail. Nice job. What are you going to tackle next ?

I plan on washing and claying, then tackling the paint. I am not positive what I am going to do as my procedure yet. Possibly DACP, AIO, EX-P and natty`s!? The interior is going to be a job as well because that was never cleaned either and he is a smoker.

Good God! Was your uncle on a 6 month safari in Africa with that car or something? The `Before` shots are the worst looking engine compartment that I`ve ever seen! You did a great job with the detail.

I just used the Meguiars Super Degreaser and let it sit for about a minute on the entire engine including the battery, aggitated with brushes and pressure washed it again. I actually pulled the entire battery out and cleaned underneath the tray too.

Beautiful job. I have seen that "before" engine compartment in a nightmare. :crazy
Suggestion: Try using your "fill Flash" mode on your digital. You will be amazed with the shots. Even in daylight. :rockin
