Hey guys, I about to purchase FK 425 and Pink Wax has really caught my eye and thinking of picking it up. I`m wondering would it go nicely over Collinite 845? Or is it a IW replacement?

PW is similar to IW and either can go on top of the other

Pink Wax is loaded with solvents. I`m willing to bet it will remove anything under it.

pink wax is made to be able to top 2180

IW is full of solvents also

I was wondering about this and started a thread the other day about putting PW over Klasse SG. I use the Klasse twins and have been very pleased with them but thought a wax lsp might be even better. When I received my shippment of 425 they included a tin of PW so I thought I might try it.



Some people responded to my thread and said SG should not be applied over any wax but the PW could be applied over SG. But if you are correct and if it is indeed full of solvents, I would hate to think that by applying it it would remove my SG.

I`m no chemist, but these waxes aren`t "cleaner" waxes. Most (all?) waxes have solvents (or some) that act as carrying agents to help spreadability and bonding. Strip out the tropical smell from Souveran and I`m sure it smells chemically! That`s why many products have yummy fragrances to mask the solvent smell.



But to say these 2 waxes, if applied properly, are "removing" what`s beneath, is a bit of a stretch. Pink Wax is marketed as being layerable.



Are you guys basing your cleaning abilities or "removing anything beneath it" because of their smell?



I use both religously. In fact I have PW topping Collinite 476s paste!

I sure hope it does not have any cleaning abilities, that would piss me off if it removed any 2180 I plan on putting on first.

John, FK recommends layering PW on top of 2180.

Thanks for the replies guys, I just reread my post and realized I need to go back to English class. So I`ve come to conclusion that PW will work fine over IW.





I do have another question though, would you guys go with PW or Natty`s?

Spilchy - have you used Pink Wax? I`m not bashing the product - it`s durable as hell and beads like a mother...but it burns around my fingernails and smells like gasoline.

All the time. You`ll see in my post above that it tops my Collinite.



Take away the yummy additive aromas in any wax and I`ll bet you it`ll smell equally bad. That`s why they are there - to please our noses. Poorboys older QD+ smelled something awful, but it didn`t remove my wax.



Carnauba is hard as a rock. How does it get to become a spreadable paste in any wax jar? Solvents!



Smelling a wax is not the best method to bet "it will remove anything beneath it" :p




...but it burns around my fingernails and smells like gasoline.



It kills my stomach when I eat it my 3M Perfect-IT Show Car Paste Wax that smells like pineapple.

Matt, I have sensitive hands but I have never experienced anything similar with the Pink.
