View Full Version : Wheel sealant over IW

When I switched to winter tires at the start of the winter, I polished the clearcoated factory alloy wheels, and put on some IW before storing them in the basement.

I recently picked up some Poorboy`s Wheel Sealant, and was going to use it next month when the summer wheels and tires come out of hiding.

Since the wheels have IW on them right now, will I have to remove that before using the wheel sealant? I`ve read that sealants can be picky about what they will or won`t bond to, so I was wondering.

The Poorboys WS will have some slight cleaning ability due to its solvent content, but it might not completely remove the IW. You could try applying it over the IW and then see how it goes. You may not get the full benefit of the sealant this way, but hey you already have IW on there and that should provide some decent protection for a while.

If it were me and you really want to try the WS, I`d remove the IW with some AIO and then apply the Poorboys.
