I`ve had a PC for a year now. I tend to test all new products on the trunk or hood of my 2001 BMW.

The most agressive combo I have is SSR2.5 and LC orange pad.

I polsih maybe 2-3 times per year or maybe more on those spots, just to play with PC and products.

I am at risk for killing the clear coat or do I have many happy years of polishing ahead?

Thanks,

Steve

I would recommend going down to your local body shop and have them give you a slightly dented hood or trunk lid to practice on. That combo several times a year might not be the best thing.

Well, it`s not always the 2.5 and orange, but now I have some FPII to play with and FMJ. Lets say I did a white pad and FPII several times per year? I just don`t want to eat through the clear in 2 years.

If you really enjoy polishing, just do other people`s cars. Make a little money while you`re at it. I wouldn`t do it to my own car just for the sake of trying them out. I only polish when it really needs polished because I don`t want to remove any clearcoat when I don`t have to.

So what that says to me, :buffing: away. I`ll take it easy, but it`s just so much fun.
