2004 Acura MDX: Done with mgm121499 on Friday night.

After using Z on my wife’s paint for 6+ weeks, I decided to try it on the MDX. The MDX was topped with FMJ before we switched over to Z.

Process Used:

Wash: CG’s Body Wash

Tires/Rims: CG’s Blue APC

Dry: Big Blue WW

Paint Prep:

ZPC x 1 via PC @ 4.5 using a LC finishing pad

Seal: (Done in heated garage 75 degrees. 15-20 min between coats. Z2Pro cured for 12 hours before final wipe down).

Paint:

Z5 x 2

Z2 pro x 1

Z8 wipe down

#425 clean up. (#425 seems to work well with Z)

Wheels:

Poorboys WS (applied 1 week ago). We topped the wheels with Z5.

After Shots:

Tires:

Full Sun: If this isn’t some ‘pop’ on the paint, I don’t know what is!!

Z Impressions:

-Does not like cold weather. The final coat of Z2Pro cured in below freezing temps, and it was a little difficult to remove, and Z8 would streak. The paint was COLD. In temperatures above 50 degrees –no problems.

-Z is my new sealer of choice. I’ve used it 3 times, and love it.

By the way, nice work....looks great!

Did you Zaino the hood air/bug deflector?

Hey great job. I`m going to try Z2 for the first time on a brand new Pilot. My question..what prep work would you recommend on a brand new vehicle? I was going to just wash and go right to the Z2. Two coats using the accelerator...but I don`t know, should I clay first or use something like AIO? GBG..how often do you apply Z2? Do you always just do one coat? Thanks.

I would prep a new car with clay for starters.

Do you have any defects to correct? If they are minor, something like FPII or ZPC will do the trick.

When you`re done with your polish step, wipe down with Z6 or ISO wipe if using FPII (to remove any oil)

I usually use 2 coats (you don`t need to, I think it adds to the overall appearance). 1 coat is plenty for protection.

You want to pick up some Z8 for up keep. I plan to use it every 2-3 washed (use like a QD after you dry). It`s an awesome product! -Good luck.
