If you look at the Cleaning, Gloss, Protection, Durability numbers provided by Finish Kare, why would anyone use the FX-1000?

The FX-1000 while only offering a slight edge in durability, loses out in gloss.

FX-1000 also has a "Depth" rating while the #425 does not. But the #425 has a "Slickness" rating, but the FX-1000 does not.

Seems like you would want to use #425 instead FX-1000.

Can someone who has used both explain the differences in the 2 products?

One is advertised as a QD, and the other as a sealant glaze, yet they seem on par according to FK with durability. Can you top Pink Wax with FX-1000 or vice versa?

Good question, Spilch...last week I was pondering if those FK ratings were helping or making things more confusing. BTW, they have a forum over there, you could try asking that, I think you can do it as a guest.

Hey, you put the #425 on, you wipe the #425 off, you put the FX-1000 on and shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around, that`s what`s its all about! :faint:

All these products and possibilities are finally driving me nuts.

Not sure if this helps....

#425 is a QD, where FX-100 is a spray polymer sealer. They are 2 different products with different purposes. IMO (after using both for 10 months), FX-100 offers significantly better protection than #425.

I use #425 and FX-100 the same way as I use Z6 and Z8.

Is FX-1000 more a sealant, a glaze, or both? I`m wondering when the heck you use it. Before waxing, after waxing, either/or.....?

Hey, hey, don`t confuse thousands and hundreds!

The 1000P is the paste wax/sealant in the tin. Synthetic; made for pure high gloss. The FX-100 is a spray sealant which has a look that is very rich and closely resembles to a carnauba. That`s why the lower gloss factor. As a spray sealant the FX-100 has significantly more protection. But as a QD, the 425 is pretty durable with its own 3 weeks protection.

You can let FX to haze or work it in longer, watch it as it `gets absorbed/blends in` the paint. It will conceal some minor imperfections, but that is not the point of the product.

Spilch, you can alternate between the FK1 products as you want.

I have a shipment of FK1 products on the way.....

my plan is wash/clay/wash/FK215/FK2180 x2/FK1000P x2/FK2685 Pink Wax x2 .... FK425 for QD

Its alot of rubbing.... but its good for the soul. And its a daily driver that is not garaged so Im shooting for some good durabilty.

Well I was hoping to find out the difference this weekend but the weather doesn`t seem to want me to accomplish this.

I currently have 2180/pink wax/425 on my black paint and was going to put an application of fx-100 on top. I bought it for a deeper look and better protection compared to the QD. I anticipate fx-100 to be more like OCW than 425. Maybe I will find out next weekend :bawling:

yes, fx100 is like OCW -

fx 100 is very slick and makes white look as good as I have ever seen. Too bad I can`t get it in gallon sizes. I am running out. A must try product for sure.

Actually, everything from them that I`ve used is top notch.

216 for example has been on my car for a long time and don`t really take care of the car as I should, but it is still very glossy and pretty slick too. m2c

Hey Thomas, what was the results of the comparison between Blitz and the FK wax we put on the trunk of your VW. I mean as far as durability is concerned.

#425 is geared towards high shine/ high gloss/ high slickness.

It compliments 2180, 218, and Hy1000 paste wax.

FX100 is geared more towards dept and richness. It compliments

Pink wax and #216 very well. Oddly, I don`t find it as user

friendly as OCW, even though they seem to be very similar

in appearance, smell, sprayability. It may be the consistency

of FX100 is a ittle thicker, I don`t know.

Well, in the past I’ve bashed OCW unfairly. However recently I found a combination worth noting. FK 216 topped with OCW looks VERY good :cooleek: Not sure if I can say better than FX-100, just different. It’s not quite as hard and glossy, but a bit warmer.

How does 216 compare to 2180 in application, looks and durability?
