This is my first attempt at an autopian style detail. This car was purchased used about six months ago and the paint was in decent shape. However after discovering this forum I knew it could be better. The paint had moderate swirling and lacked the pop I was looking for. I did some research, purchased product and came up with the following process.

[EDIT] I used a PC 7336 for steps 2-4.

clay - clay magic

IP w/ orange LC light cutting pad

FPII w/ white LC polishing pad

Prime w/ black LC finishing pad

AJ by hand

Now for the pics. Sorry, I only have afters.

Very nice work on the detail!!

My last car was an Audi TT. I bought one when they first came out. So, mine was the 180hp version. The material quality on the car was excellent. However, my car was constantly in the shop for various reasons. From the day I picked it up I had nothing but problems with that car. It was VERY expensive to fix once the waranty was up. So, I dumped it. The other thing that bugged me about the TT was that it has a fairly upright front fascia with a decent amount of painted surface. So, I used to get TONS of rock chips in the front bumper. If you don`t already have one, I would definitely look into a clear bra.

So far so good. Knock on wood. It`s CPO w/ warranty up to 100k with a $50 deductible. As far as the rock chips go I have a few and really need to look into the clear bra.

Ah yes, that rich wet Acrylic Jett look!

Excellent job, Audi paint is pretty tough so that makes your first effort all the more impressive!

I think I saw one of these driving past work today and from far I thought to myself "Is that thing primered and then clearcoated?!". Well yours looks great, so I don`t know what I was seeing.

Nice neighborhood, too.
