I went to a local west marine store today and they had a sale on collinite marine waxes, so i picked up a pint of collinite #870 fleetwood wax. Do you guys think this will be safe on a car, i mean it says so on the back but i didn`t know they have a special line for cars. How do you think it will compare to #845, #126 and #73. Thanks in advance, Berj.

P.S. The pint was on sale for 13 bucks.

It is a cleaner wax if I remember right. Just fine to use on cars.

I have been told from Collinite that #870 is not recommended for clear coat paint. I haven`t heard from anyone who has used it one a car, so I don`t know what the results may be.

IIRC, the *liquid* version of 870 Fleetwax is an aggressive cleaner wax that might be too harsh for b/c paints. The paste version is the same as 476S but more economically packaged (size/cost wise).

OK, I found my older product info from Collinite..the *liquid* 870 is described as a cleaner and they said (in that *older* product info) that it`s OK for cars- "It is also superb for cleaning and protecting automobile, motor home....finishes". But I`d sure be careful using it on something you care about ;) and *I* wouldn`t use it for this.

Alright, i guess its time to return it and buy some of the car versions. Is there anywhere local they sell it or do i have to buy it from pakshak?

Are they affiliated with any other of those companies like kragen or autozone, because thats all we have over here.

I`d let my fingers do the walking ;) See what you can find in the yellow pages, looking under not only carparts places but also marine/aviation/RV supply shops.

From my experience here in UT, most if not all Marine shops carry Meg`s, they have not even heard of Collinite.

CSK, "Checker Auto Parts", "Schuck’s Auto Supply" and "Kragen Auto Parts" and Advance Auto have a joint venture partsamerica.com.

You can check your zip for collinite here
