Went up to my brothers in Ohio over the holidays, this is his truck and they used it to build their house. I think my dad (who helped build the house) use some turtle wax on it once. I think he got more TW on the trim then he did on the truck. :grinno:

The truck has about 50k miles on it.

Anyway this was a paint only job. The plan was to use MIP, followed by FPII and 3x Z2 w/ ZFX.

This is what got done:

Ran it thru touchless wash.

Washed with QEW in nice warm garage

Zaino clay with body shine #49 as lube.

Menzerna IP with Orange excel detail pad by PC

Zaino Z2 pro w/ ZFX x3

Z6 at the end.

This is a before pic after the QEW wash:

Just tie down some trees with straps over the paint. :scared:

After MIP

The bad areas where gone over 2-3 times with MIP

It took about 2 hours to do the entire truck with MIP to get it looking nice. I was thinking this paint is really going to glow after the FPII. Then my brother starts asking how much longer, ect. I tell him another hour for the next polish step and then 3 coats of z2pro. He says we don`t have time for that. You got most if not all of the scuffs/scratches out. Can we just zaino it from here? I still got Christmas shopping to do for myself and I need the truck to haul gifts. A tear ran down my face as I realized how great the truck would look after FPII as it was already looking excellent. So we did a Z6 wipedown and applied 3 coats of Z2 pro w/ ZFX.

I also did a quick cleanup on his X5. It had some slight water spots on the horz surfaces. So I gave it a once over with Zaino PC fusion and a excel green pad. Then 3 coats of ZFX`d Z2pro.

QEW wash

No clay as I had clayed it a few months ago.

ZPC w/ a excel green pad

3x Z2pro w/ ZFX.

Z6 after each coat.

No final pics but this is a pic after ZPC:

Its so nice to work with ZPC as you don`t have to tape anything off at all.

superb !! i too find going from compound straight to LSP suffices in many cases.

Very nice...for once. What caused all of that marring along the sides of the bed? It looked pretty bad to start.

For once you got to learn to read.

Just tie down some trees with straps over the paint.

looks good for going straight from IP

Very nice considering you went from IP to LSP. I can only imagine how great it would have looked after some FPII. Personally, I would have disowned my brother if he forced me to stop in the middle of a detail.

Looks really nice.

I have gone from IP straight to an LSP on a few occasions on light to medium color cars with great results. I have yet to try it on a darker color vehicle. I am very impressed with the Menzerna polish line. Did you see any swirls in the direct sunlight?? It looks great from what I can see in the pictures.

No swirls Rick but maybe a few areas that still had some spider webbing from improper washing. Those areas only got 1x with the IP.

:chuckle:

It is beautiful work. FP ll would have enhanced that detail to another degree.

Was wondering if bonding issues were considered going strait to Z2-PRO after IP without Z1 or ZPC?

Thanks Mike!

We flew up. I used these 2oz bottles and hand carried them on. Had a few more then these. I would not want to check the products in. It can get pretty cold in the bag bins and if your bags get lost who knows what temps they will be exposed to overnight. I had some ZFX with me so that was my biggest worry.

I tried to hand carry my PC on the way back but the fine TSA folks in Columbus said that you can only bring small tools with you on the plane. :grinno:

I did use ZFX with the Z2pro. I have went from FPII in the past to z2pro w/ zfx without any issues.

EDIT: Added pic of X5 to first post.
