    Something changed with HD Speed?

Got some new bottles (last one purchased was maybe middle of last summer) and I`ve had a couple cars recently that it`s not playing nice on. I`m not seeing really any haze or marring, just product that is impossible to wipe off. Spray and wipe with a little elbow grease seems to do the trick but thats almost counter productive at that point. I`ve never had an issue before, even in direct sunlight on black. The last 2 cars I did tho have had this problem though.

Was something changed or should I be looking at my pads/technique? Besides the new bottle, the only change this year to last is I`m now using buff n shine uro tec pads instead of their regular flat pads

Yah, change to the flat pads. You have nothing to lose except a little product

Aw I really hope not. I`m just about finished with my last 32 oz bottle in the original packaging (no purple tip) and it has always worked amazing. I used it on a black Mustang this morning and wipe off was effortless. Maybe 3D 505 Correction Glaze is the better version? I remember thinking that the AAT formulas were changed so this wouldn`t be the first time.

It`s taken me almost a year to finish my 32oz. bottles of 3D 501 & 502. I wasn`t going to reorder because the compound and polish are so runny and I`m lucky to get through 1 pass on low speed before they have dried onto the panel. Removal of AAT 501 is definitely more difficult than HD cut+ and even though I`m told 502 has cut similar to HD adapt, it only stays lubricated enough for me to do 1 pass at 600rpm on the rotary.

HD Polish+ has always been my go-to polish that works on 90% of paints and I personally have used an entire gallon since August of 2016 (which is a ton especially since so little is required and I don`t prime my pads)

Are the AAT 502 finishing polish and AAT 501 compound suppose to be more runny than Cut+ and Polish+? I recently had a bottle of cut+ lose it`s consistency and turn runny. I wonder if that is what the problem is with my old bottles of 501 and 502?

I had the same issue, bit with carpro essence

All I can say is check out Griots Boss finisheling sealant

    Cuts better, lasts longer..

    Shine Supply Burnout sounds promising

I use the regular ol` white LC flat pads with it, haven`t had a problem (even in sun on a dark paint). Purchased toward the beginning of this year, purple tip, etc. I can check manufacturer`s date on it when I get home.

Its ease of use and wipe-off is outstanding, but I do wish it would last a little longer as an AIO. The McKees 360 and now the Griots BOSS finishing sealant are intriguing.

I figured it out. I was getting a little too crazy priming the pad and it was the result of an oversaturated pad. Went back to my old way of priming and haven`t had a problem

Re: Something changed with HD Speed?

The only time I`ve found priming pads to be necessary or even beneficial is for cutting with microfiber. Even then I prime very light and blow out the majority of product prior to compounding. I do not like working with a saturated foam pad at all so my opinion may be a little bias. But keep in mind that 3D recommends using their polishes without priming. I`m on my second gallon of HD Polish+ and I have no idea how many quarts of HD Speed I`ve gone through but it has to be at least 12-15.

With both HD Speed and HD Polish+ I use 3 pea sized drops on an unprimed pad and only two pea sized drops after that (using compressed air to blow residue out in between every set). Once the pad face become saturated with product to the point that it`s started to absorb into the cells of the pad, I swap it out for a clean/dry/unprimed pad. These two products are so heavily lubricated that I understand why they recommend using so little.

Meguiars compounds and polishes on the other hand I use probably 3 times as much product (which still isn`t alot but in comparison it is) and they do seem to respond better to a pad that is lightly primed. Especially D151, D300 and M100 in my experience.

Just my opinions, we all have different styles and as long as we can all produce great results there is no right or wrong way!! Thanks for sharing!!
