Well I`ll likely be getting mine it 2 days. I`ll have to test it out before sliding the old credit card. The 3D guy that comes to my shop seems to be a no nonsense, standup guy. I`m sure he`ll take care of my needs either way it goes. I`m buying mine so I have a back up DA to my G110V2 rather than using my Cyclo in a pinch as it`s outfitted with carpet scrubbing brushes.

Just ordered one....hope i get one like Gary`s.....hope 3D is checking all of these out prior to shipping. With several reported issues on a NEW product, 3D needs to correct this by checking them prior to shipment. Just my $.02.

Thats funny... I saw that too... Talk about shilling...

    Nope, not a pro.

And the thing is, he gets PAID to write a lot of the reviews he does, and he openly admits it. Avi from CarPro was paying him to do reviews for a long time before he became a distributor for them.

Unless you personally know Corey you need to keep your mouth shut. Just because he has been given the opportunity to start a much needed business doesn`t mean his reviews are skewed. He tells the truth when he reviews a product regardless of brand. If you have any doubts then give him a call and ask for his personal opinion off the record and I guarantee you it will match his reviews.

How do we know Garry isn`t doing the same thing? I mean his first review of HD polisher was not all glorifying it and he even said 3D/HD stuff was nothing spectacular, not long after his story changed. If you guys are going to address one individual about this topic you might well address all of them. Sounds like someone is a little upset because they aren`t getting freebies.

That`s not what is at issue here, Richard. The entire problem is people trying to claim Corey`s on a higher moral ground than Garry when the plain and simple fact is he`s just as "tied up with" the companies for which he does reviews as Garry is in a business relationship with 3D, if not more so in some respects. Regardless whether his reviews are arrow-straight or not, he`s no better or worse in this particular comparative case.

If you want to get into personal attacks and ethics about who is doing what and how, I`ve got nothing but time. How does Garry`s business relationship differ from Corey`s? Both are being compensated in one way or another.

Personal attacks? Come on, Richard. Read what I said, neither is better nor worse than the other -- they`re on equal moral ground as far as I`m concerned, and that doesn`t affect whether or not I trust their reviews or their judgement. The problem I have is OTHER PEOPLE trying to claim otherwise. As in the people on AGO basically attacking Garry`s character on the grounds that they feel Corey is better than he is. That`s BS.

Richard, thank you so much for your defense of my character. It is much appreciated my friend.

    All,

I have only ever been straight with the community. I created over a hundred reviews without making a dime, probably 95% of them I bought with my own money and no special incentive or a forum member sent me a small sample and asked me to review it. I began spending every moment of free time on reviews and answering questions. Over time I thought I`d love to have a better camera to record better video with. I would love to make a couple bucks for my effort to pay for these items and make something for the time invested just because it seems fair. I had people reply to my reviews regularly telling me I should be paid something. I created a website that made it clear and even announced on the forums that I was going to do reviews and sometimes be paid for it if a manufaturer came to me and wanted me to spend 10+ hours on a review. It was also clear the manufacturer knew I wasn`t going to say this is the best product ever and all that jazz. Still many times they came I felt odd about asking for money and did it because I love detailing, love writing reviews, and love the detailing community.

For the record I have plenty of other work (I could have been doing) that pays far more than the less than minimum wage I ever asked for my time on a review. SO, I didn`t do anything for the purpose of making money. I was going to do it anyway and thought it would be nice if it at least paid for itself. THAT IS A FACT

I`ll attempt not to attack certain people who I know are wrong in there opinion of me... I will simply say this. Some people were making money and in it for money completely. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. THATS YOUR BUSINESS! I have no problem with that and more power to you. But don`t attack me when I make a few pennies and was straight with people and never tried to hide anything. If I hadn`t announced I was making a few bucks on some reviews publicly you would never have known. I didn`t have to do that but thought it was important because people always told me how impartial I was and how much they loved that. I wanted them to know what had changed and leave it to them to decide what that meant. There are many many many people being compensated for reviews... Only difference is they don`t tell you. I have pushed Ultima for years harder than anyone. Call anyone there and ask them if I have ever taken a dime.... even a penny.... Ask them if I have ever even bought a product from them with even a 1% discount... The answer will be NO. Call and ask the same of each company of every product I ever did a review of and you`ll be on the phone a very long time before finding any where I made a dime. Even on those reviews that I was paid (very few) the facts would bare that I could have made far more per those very same hours doing my other work.

When I was approached to open CarPro-US it was a HUGE decision for me. I have a busy life but decided to devote every effort to making my customers happy regardless of profit for as long as possible. I haven`t made a dime yet. In fact it will be a long time till I hit black if I ever do. What I have earned is a lot of knowledge building and handling every part of the store. Now obviously I didn`t open a store for fun. My intention is to make money but I won`t sell out my character or talk ill of competitors. In fact I will still champion those who have good character and products.

The challenges have been incredible which is the best part. I love challenges. When I made the choice to do it I wanted more than anything to let everyone know once again on the forums so it would be public knowledge but obviously I can`t talk about a store on the forums as it is considered advertising. Instead as soon as I knew I had made the decision I emailed about 30-40 people in the community whos emails I had to let them know and make it as public as I could without getting banned or embarrasing the one forum that I am a moderator on.

If I felt I owed an apology for opening a store I would apologize. I owe no apologies. Welcome to America where it is my right to open a store. I have done nothing wrong. I hope anyone that has any curiosity about my intentions or my character will call me on the phone and talk to me before posting things about me and making assumptions. But thats your right as well regardless of it being founded or unfounded. By the way, anyone can call me at any time to ask me about any product and I will be honest. Do I want to make a sale for my time? sure Is my charcter worth a couple bucks? Not last I checked.

I forgive those of you who attack me. I am extremely greatful to those of you who know me and defend me.

    Have a wonderful day,

    Corey

Then I apologize Charlie because I am only aware of what was written here. I have a great amount of respect for you and Garry but what was written here was very low. I do not wish to move forward with the attacks but at the same time I will not sit back and let them go on without response.

The term shilling sure does get thrown around a lot, and always in a bad light. If someone is paid to sell or do something, they`re doing their job. Nobody is making you believe it or even take it seriously. I personally don`t buy anything a paid employee/rep/reviewer has to say as they are being paid to say it. I don`t think anyone pays for someone to go out and be completely honest, they would do that for free (I`m assuming nobody posts bad reviews on purpose). So what if someone is "shilling" a product to make money, this is not a Communist country.

On another note, if it`s shilling for one person, it`s shilling for the other also if the facts are the same, so call an apple an apple, and an orange an orange.

On another side note, I didn`t see where this Corey guy even posted in the thread over at AG about Garry`s review, unless there`s more than one thread going.

Come on guys. The pissing contests and shill-mongering has gone on for too long. Personal attacks are against why Autopia was created.
