Wow for the shine I just acheived and thanks for everyone here and this great site which has given me a ton of info the past few weeks of lurking.

So Ive been jonesing to clay my car since it hasnt been done in years (I was doing it once a year) and I just picked up some new products I wanted to try out. Ive been detailing cars since i was a kid, only seriously lately though. Mostly have only used OTC stuff, and Zaino. My car is a black 99 Mustang GT convertible. Lots of bolt-ons, polished alum 99 cobra rims, garaged, gets compliments constantly.

So today went like this:

1. Washed with Dawn.

2. Spray MQD on wet car as lube and went over it with the Meg clay bar. (I think the Clay Magic bar was better)

3. Used DG Pre-cleaner 2 applied with an orbital. Just used the yellow pad that came with it I doubt it was abbrasive at all.

4. Removed by hand the DG Pre-cleaner (PITA!)

5. Sprayed car with AW mainly to remove copious amounts of dust and hard to get off polish.

6. Applied DG 111 (wanted to use 105 but no where at any store).

7. Another coat of DG 111

8. Finished with one more of AW.

My thougts on the day, well the car looks great. The DG 111 was a joy to work with, by far the easiest polish ive ever used. You could put ten coats on its so easy. The DG 652 pre-cleaner on the other hand stuck like glue. Im sure i was using too much, probably didnt let it sit long enough, but man was it a bitvh to get off. It did seem to eliminate a lot of swirls, will be able to see that better in the sun tommorow. I did notice that some oxidation on my hood was still there. So i took some TW extreme cleaner wax (i dont think this is even made anymore, got at big lots for 1.99) and it took the oxidation right off. I dont know what it is about that TW Extreme cleaner wax, but it makes scratches dissapear. Wonder why it was discontinued?!

I will be better able to see how the swirls were handled in the sun tommorow and put some pics up.
