Trying to do it without anything available is like being only male invited to an all female dorm sleepover on a moment's notice right after you took very long swim in a very cold water.

"Yes! Significant shrinkage!"

:D

ZoranC- If I *had* to work outdoors, I'd get some kind of canopy to provide shade...for a number of reasons with this inspection-lighting issue being near the top of the list.

I understand the difficulties involved with imperfect working conditions, but at some point I believe you have to step back and evaluate which compromises are OK and which ones are not.

Dave what a great write up, no idea how did I miss it!

you know something I was thinking of buying the brinkmann at some point

I seen it being used allot in DW forums, but I said to my self while almost throwing

100 away let me get the best and thank god I did.

I completely agree with you that sungun is the best light source after the sun period.

and I do know what you mean when you said out of focus of the direct light you meant

outside of the main light source which amazingly reveals allot of defects,

by the way, The sungun main light source works wonders when at distance from the panel it self it reveals almost everything in my test last night.

Here is a picture to show the "out side of the light source" look at the decorative

box on the wall, that sun light like is what dave is referring too

I do have canopy and work underneath it whenever I can but this is not just for such times, even if I had a garage to work in. I want to be able to inspect the paint wherever person I am speaking to is at that point in time under unfavorable conditions.

ZoranC- Ah, OK, now I understand. Thanks for clarifying. That'd be a tough one, and I can see how it'd be good to do.

stiffdog06- Yeah, I simply cannot imagine anything showing stuff better than my $25 incandescent (in a dark shop) and I too would much rather have an ETG for the money. But then again, some paints show flaws better than others, and the sunguns/etc. might be perfect for a lot of people.

here is a link to a thread in DD, he is using the sungun out doors, check it out!

Thank you for helping! I am not sure his pictures are conclusive though. He seems to be working on overcast day. I've seen good shots of Brinkmann under such light. I guess I will have to try to find local rep and see whether I can get a demo.
