Which is better...Hook & Loop or Quick Release Adapter?

I've been checkin out all the different gadgets and pads n such that can go with the PC. I was just wondering for people who have tried them, which is better...the Hook and Loop backing plates....or the Quick Release Adapter for 2 sided pads?

The 2 sided pad seems appealing because its like 2 pads for one right? But only thing is i've only found them in 6" and 8"...no 4 or 5" pads...which i've heard that smaller pads are better for the PC especially when doing minor correction work. On the other hand the Hook and Loop backing plates seem nice because you can also use them for sanding or for the carpet cleaning brush attachment as well. Any feed back from people who have tried either or?

I have the edge adapters on my rotary and PC. You can get 4" pads for them (think Cyclo) if you prefer. I like the fact that I can go from 8" on the hood to 6" at the tighter spots (bumpers, etc) to 4" for the REAL tight areas (or headlights) without having to change the backing plate.

Not to mention, just flip them over when required to get a new pad.....

I do have other options for the sanding (DA and rotary) and purchased another PC for carpet cleaning. There are advantages to be an old fart with the kids gone from the house. I have more money for MY toys now.....

The only problem is that instead of bringing the grandkids over for us to watch, they bring their cars over for a free detail.... At least the cars don't pee in my lap though.

There are smaller 2 sided pads, the System 1 4.5" and the Cyclo DoublePrecision 4" pads. Both use the same Edge adapter on whatever machine you are using. Another plus to this system is that the pads will always be centered.

I personally don't have any experience with 2 sided or Edge pads though, all Lake Country hook and loop for me.

And FWIW, in detailing you'll quickly learn that everyrthing is subjective. There never is "The Best Product" or "Which one is better" or the "Longest lasting wax", etc. Everyone has different opinions and experiences with products. The only way for you to decide if that product is right for you is to either try both out, or find some users that seem to have a good reputation and go on their recommendations.

I've used both and I don't have an issue with either. It comes down to preference.

I like the Edge 2-sided pads for the rotary but prefer the hook-loop for my G100 and Cyclo. That's mostly because I change pad sizes more often on the rotary than I do on the DA machines.

hmmm ok all of those replies make sense to me. thats all i was asking was different peoples experiences with either types. Any opinions on which one seems to be more sensable money wise..and the cheapest place to order either of the pads..either LC or 2 sided pads? And any opinion on if buying MF bonnets to buff the wax off, or is by hand really the best way to go? And either way...is there a specific type of MF towel/bonnet that should be used or is it pretty much the same?

get the Lake Country pads & backing plate...

+1:bigups Get the 4" for med to heavy correction. The 5.5" pads will work well for light correction and sealants and waxes.

ok ill check that out...do you guys have any sites you recommend that i check out for the pads you're talkin about? I know there are TONS but im just wondering the best and most financially kind ones lol. Also, any comment on if the Mothers 3-step Cali Gold system is any good?
