thanks and happy detailing~

oh.. i have scratch X.. and it seems it doesnt help much.. is this even a compound?

idwib- A few products come to mind, and basically, *IMO* anything that works by PC will work to some extent by hand.

My hands-down favorites for by-hand use are the polishes from 1Z. Their Ultra/Extra Polish will do some real work by hand and it won't wear you out in the process. You can tell the abrasives are breaking down and it's, if not fun, sorta rewarding to use. Hard to put into words, but it's a user-friendly product even if it does have a pretty chemically smell (which I actually *like*). I'd follow Ultra with their Paint Polish for a truly ready-to-wax finish, but it's not always 100% necessary (at least not on light colored beaters :D ).

The old, discontinued (but still available) 3M PI-III RC 05933 worked fine by hand, but was a good bit milder than the 1Z Ultra. I follow the 05933 with PI-III MG 05937, which also works fine by hand.

You could also look into the Hi-Temp line at TOL .

If it were mine, no question about it- I'd use 1Z Ultra a few times and then 1z Paint Polish once, then apply Collinite wax.

Not that I've ever tried it, but I'd say *NO* because the 1Z polishes leave wax behind. Use AIO and *then* the KSG, but don't be surprised if a little hidden marring "comes back" after you clean the paint with the AIO. I just use carnaubas over top of 1Z polishes, mainly Collinite.

What if I did an isopropyl alcohol wipedown?

I don't have any AIO, but I want to use some SG on my brothers car this weekend....

Can I apply it over OHC?

Meguiars DACP works well by hand. Make sure you use a folded terry cloth towel folded over to make a thick pad and keep your fingers together while working in DACP so your finger tips don't cause pressure points that lead to marring. Just spread in a circular fashion over a 2' x 2' area, then work under medium pressure back and forth until DACP clears out. If it is in any way hard to remove, you either used too much or didn't work it until it cleared.
