Hello,

I have been reading a lot about Wolfgang Plastik Lens Cleaning System. I have a Golf MK4 in which it's front headlights have become clouded but from the inside side.

I don't know how this happened but it looks very ugly on the car and it is very annoying because i don't know how to remove this.

Will the Wolfgang Plastik Lens Cleaning System help me remove this cloudness from my headlights.

P.S: I used Meguiars PlastX on an foam applicator but had no results.

Thank you.

If it's really on the inside, no polishing efforts will be effective. There's no way to polish the inside, and this probably happened from a crack somewhere that you can't see.

Now, that being said, a lot of times it *looks* like it's on the inside but it's actually on the outside. This can be deceiving. I used the WG lens kit, and it worked wonders for me. Here's a pic of one side polished with the WG kit and the other side untouched:

Also, be really careful around the little plastic nipple things that stick out of some headlights, or this can happen:

I did tried to insert a thin cloth on the inside of the headlight (where the bulb is sitting) to clean it , and i managed to remove a bit of this cloudness..

It is like someone has exhaled on the inside of the plastic...

The bad thing is that the dealer won't change them as they believe this does not interfere with the performance of the headlight....

Wait a minute, this car is under warranty? If it's still within the manufacturer's warranty, they have to swap it out, or at least I think they do.

The car was manufactured in 2002. The cloudness apeared within 4 months since the day i bought the car (i bought the car brand new from the dealer). Since the early days that the cloudness appeared in the headlights i have been going to the dealer almost twice a month.

But as i told you above the dealer refuses to swap them.

:)

All I can say to that is that particular dealer isn't a very nice one (I'm being very polite). I've had problems in the past with fogging lenses, water infiltration, discolored lenses, etc. and my dealer has *always* swapped them out. I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you, it certainly shouldn't have.

Anyway, back to your lenses. Since you have determined that the problem lies within the lens and not on the outside, I'm thinking removing the lens all together and filling it with some kind of cleaner like maybe alcohol/water, and the using a bottle brush or the like to get in there and clean it. I really have no idea and am guessing, but I would think that if you can just *wipe* it off, then anything that would dissolve the film would work which is why I might try the alcohol/water mix but am open to anything.

Yeah i know what you mean about being very polite (forums rules) :).

Anyway i would like to clean them but in order to do so i need to remove the front bumper so as to remove the headlight units...

I don't know about this, its a bit of a risk doing it all by my self.

Maybe anyone with a better suggestion???
