light scratches?

Hello guys..... noob question for you. I'm totally new to any detailing, beyond your simple turtle wax job.

My wife took my rex off road in the mono basin last weekend, and managed to put light scratches down the ENTIRE side of the car from the sage/brush. Nothing deep, but it looks bad. Literally the entire side :(

What is the best (read simple for noob), way to remove these light scratches? Will AIO do the trick? I was already planning on using AIO and SG this weekend, but wasn't sure if there were better ways to fix this.

Thanks for the help! - Zman

Tough to say without seeing a pic (and even tough then, because I can't see the depth of the scratches), but a good rule of thumb is if you can't feel them with your fingernail, then you probably can get them out.

AIO won't do the trick. Try Meguiar's ScratchX, since it's readily available. Apply as directed with the appropriate applicator, and you should be all set.

They are pretty light...... more of a visual problem than any deep damage. I read a few posts that ScratchX was fairly abrassive? Any chance that could be overkill for a light scratch?

If you have a PC, I recommend going over the whole side with Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish. Follow that with a good coat of wax or sealant. You won't be a "noob" for long. Pretty soon you will be into all the "exotic" stuff that is brought up on this site. But the above suggestion will work for now.

Don't forget good ol #9!

If ScratchX doesn't work and you don't want to use DACP.

Then of course a good coat of your favorite wax.:xyxthumbs
