Meguiars NXT wax?

I was going to purchase a can of this stuff yesterday at Target since I've heard from this board that it is a pretty good OTC product. The only reason I didn't get it was because I wasn't sure if it stains body trim or not. Anyone know?

It's going to be an NXT summer for my NBM Camaro. I'm trying to use it up to justify to buying other products. I've been applying 1 coat about a week apart. I've been very happy with it.

Like others have said, it does stain. So I have been applying by hand, as my surface has been previously prepped.

You know what? NXT wax is a great wax for a weekender.

There's certainly a lot of products that are better, but NXT leaves a good shine with very little effort at all.

You're not going to hear much praise for OTC products here, but NXT is one of the best overall OTC waxes in my opinion.

FWIW, I wouldn't waste my time with this stuff. I have used it. It doesn't last at all. If your car is in the garage 95% of the time, it's ok. For daily drivers, it won't last longer than a couple of weeks. There are plenty of products that cost about the same, are about the same amount of work to apply, look at least as good, and will last 5X longer.

I've been using the NXT spray wax on my wife's car for the past month. It's a graphite gray pearl in color (semi-dark to dark) and kept outside 24/7 and for the shine and ease of use, NXT is a pretty good wax (the shine is fantastic). The car is washed every other week (if not weekly during the summer) and because it's so easy for me to apply the spray wax, I just apply it after every wash. If you're the type of user that doesn't mind applying a wax twice a month, then the NXT spray wax is worth the money IMO ($7 @ Wallyworld).

On NBM I prefer Mothers Reflections, Tropicare XP3 or Zaino Z5

NXT is a great product for dark color cars especially reds as it will darken it even more. The durability is also good if you apply it correctly and top with an old school carnuba wax for ultimate look and protection. :buffing:

The new Turtle Wax Ice can be applied to anything and everything on your car and won't stain. I haven't tried it, but I've seen some good reviews of it on here.

Thanks for the info guys! I think I have decided to pass on the NXT after reading your responses. I have a silver car too, so the benefits on dark colored cars mentioned above would obviously not apply to me. I am mainly looking for something that does not stain like the S100 that I have used, but with better longevity.

Its been several months and countless washes since I applied 3 layers of KSG topped with S100 and Pink Wax and the water still beads as if it was freshly waxed. I'm sure if I had just used S100 by itself that would not be the case.

I do however have some UPP that I would really like to use on my car. I used it on my brother in law's black 911 a couple of weeks ago and I was very impressed with it. When I do get around to trying it on my car, should I apply a carnauba over it? I plan on layering it with 3 coats also. Just wondering if the carnauba would be unnecessary for my particular color.

In the July 2006 issue of Consumer Reports they rated Meguiar's NXT Generation waxes on "Compatibility with plastic" as follows:

Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax Liquid (Excellent)

Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Paste Wax (Good)

Meguiar's NXT Generation Spray Wax (Excellent)

I used the liquid version on my '98 Accord. It spent about 5 years outside, and only the last 3 garage-kept. The overall results were excellent. The color of my Accord is Black Currant Pearl which is dark. Typically the color looks its best towards sunset, but at high noon the Meguiar's Wax had it looking its best in years.

In my experience, it does not stain if you have a protectant on the trim before hand like Armor All. I left it on one time for 30 minutes and it wiped off. If you get NXT on you trim, just wipe it off with a damn towel.
