Mothers powerball

Who is using this? I just did a complete detail, wash, QD, interior and polish wheels. Now the wheels were such a pain in the ***. I applied mothers mag/alum polish to my wheels. Then I had to buff it off. This was such a pain doing each wheel. Now I have saw mothers powerball for so long and havent bought it yet. I know they have a big one and then a long mini one. Im guessing i would get the big one for the wheels. Is the powerball just for applying? I was wondering if i can use that to buff it off instead of towel. What do people do? Its pretty cheap at walmart. I also saw a battery tooth brush thing it says can be used on the wheels. I dont know if that would work good. Seems like it would be good to get the corner of each spoke in the rim if bad baked on brake dust. I think that was $9.99.

Dont know if the toothbrush will work, but the mini power ball is great for rims. Beats the hell out of doing by hand.

so you would you apply with a microfiber or whatever and and buff off with the mini? Or is it the other way around. The powerball is just for buffing right, no cleaning?

I bought both and gave away the big one. I couldn't control the thing and found it too cumbersome. I do like the small one, even if I rarely use it. It's been handy on really grimy wheels, but for the most part I've found it easier to simply work by hand.

Apply polish to pb and wipe by hand.

the mini is much better than the full size in my opinion. I use it for polishing aluminum wheels, then buff the excess off with a microfiber. Polishing wheels will turn your towels black, so don't use your most expensive towels on the wheels. My only complaint is that they wear out too quick. I can do 2 cars with the powerall then it is wasted.

Well i have the mini, i looked at the mothers powerball alum polish thats liquid for it but i didnt buy it. Walmart has it for almost $9 for that liquid polish. Anything else I can use thats better? I know mothers is good, but i usually buy all my stuff online, since most OTC stuff sux. So basically with this powerball im putting the liquid on ball and buffing my wheels. So im not just applying it im buffing it until it comes off also, then i just go over with the towel after whatever that is not picked up.

You got it, I also use the power ball to clean up my head lights. Smaller so its easier to control than a DA. BTW just used it to polish some of my wifes jewerly.

I bought the mini about a year ago and it works pretty darn good.

Its best for applying since you want to *work* a polish in, not just rub it on. :)

ok so again what polish should i use? obviously it needs to be liquid right.

If your wheels are bare aluminum, you can use the PowerMetal aluminum polish or other liquid metal polish. I use PowerMetal. Some use Blue Magic. Some use whatever they like. You can even use your Mag & Aluminum Polish in the jar, but you'll want to lightly mist your PowerBall Mini first to add a bit of moisture. As you work, add some more, if necessary, to provide lubrication.

Oh, and you don't have to work very fast either -- if you're slinging product, you're probably going too fast.

Follow the directions on the metal polish, but likely it says to not let it dry -- polish wet, and immediately wipe to a shine with a microfiber towel -- at least that's how the Mothers metal polishes are supposed to be used.

Disassemble and wash the ball thoroughly afterwards. Rinse well. Let it air dry a day or two. If you don't wash it thoroughly after using a liquid metal polish it might get brittle -- I won't admit to you how I know this.

You can use the same PowerBall on your headlights with your favorite plastic polish, just mask around them to protect the paint or trim, and lift the hood if necessary.

ill try the jar i have, almost out then i buy something else. Now this is polish, dont i need a wax sealant after to protect like poorboys?

This is a polish. You don't "need" a sealant, but it might not be a bad idea. It depends on if you don't mind the extra step of applying another product vs the marginal benefit of that product. Because let's face it, you're probably going to polish the rims fairly regularly.

It can depend on your brakes, and how much they dust. Your washing habits, the wheel design and finish -- all are factors. A sealant would be an option, in my opinion.

You can use a pure carnauba or a special wheel sealant or a spray and wipe spray wax -- all are suitable, and some are less work. I use a spray wax on my clearcoated rims because the wheel sealant I tried was more work than it was worth -- but those are clearcoated rims, and I don't drive a lot, and I have Porterfield R4-S pads and they don't seem to dust much.

I looked at wheel wax and poorboys wheel sealant. I do have the powerball now so it wont be hard to get paste/liquid off since applying will be easy vs spray wax. Do you think polishing too much like every other time i wash my rims will ruin my stock oem rims? I think they are alloy and painted with clearcoat. There g35x rims. what do you think? I actually do have blue magic, lol i just keep buying diff kinds of stuff and i havent even run out of my orginal stuff.
