Any neutral smell / NO (cheap) perfume added products out there?

Hi,

I just detailed my first vehicle and I was amazed by all kinds of chemical smells more than anything! It was a 9+ hour detail and from All Purpose Cleaner, Detail Spray, Polish to Wax... the smells are just terrible. I am not going to name the product I just used here. I was just wondering what products that you know have little or no smell (don't smell like cheap perfume) and work well?

Thank you!

John

Please. Name the product.

Describe the smell. We all learn from each other and this kind of opinion is what the forum is all about. Not bashing, opinions and experiences.

Things that smell good...

Ultima Paint Prep Plus - cinnamon and the Ultima Car Shampoo - heaven?

Adam's Detail Spray - Bubblegum

Mequiars Endurance - Grapes

Prima Slick - Kind of lemony

Lexus Leather Conditioner - very very soft banana oil - lots of compliments on how my cars smell after I use this

Knuckle,

Thanks... Smell is very subjective and it's proven in your post. Adam's is what I use and I assume you like their bubblegum smell? :

That's why I am looking for a product that has close to no smell at all....

Adam's Detail Spray? You sure? They have lots of other products...

Yes. Adam's all purpose cleaner, detail spray, Revived polish and Butter Wax smell a bit too strong for me... Maybe I'm just not used to it.

I used the APC spray in an open area outdoor and it's pretty strong, too... Other ones I used in garage (since it's cold out).

Many times smells are used to cover up chemical odors, and other times result from the chemicals themselves. It is going to be rather difficult to find products with no smell. You can reduce the effect on products that can be diluted, by diluting them more. The other option is to use natural chemicals which are fee and far between. I use XO Plus Cleaner for interiors in good condition. It is a cleaner made from naturally derived surfactants and plant essential oils. Since it is made to neutralize odors, it does have a smell, but is a very pleasant floral smell.

THANKS! I think that's a great idea for the case with APC! I must have not diluted enough...thanks!

Sonus Total Eclipse and Cockpit Detailer would be a good way to go as they don't leave behind a chemical scent nor a perfume. Ultima Interior Shampoo leaves a nice clean scent, but if you really want something more neutral Sonus is a good choice.

Ultima Car Shampoo

Clay (Sonus, Adams, ,maybe Pinnacle or Clay magic) with lube or ONR as lube

Wipe down

Lightly spray pads with QD spray of your choice. I like Adams.

Menzerna SIP Orange Pad

Mernzerna 106FF Orange Pad

I like to finish with either Ultima Paint Prep Plus White Pad or Menzerna 106FF White Pad

Wax. Phooey. I never use the stuff anymore. (few folks will live that!! :) )

I say sealant all the way. Ultima Paint Guard Plus!! Four coats at least 12 hours apart buffed after the last coat with a nice thick soft MF.

Keep clean with the Ultima Shampoo or ONR and the occasional light clay and PGP seal.

Off the top of my head I can't think of a single product that has no smell, other than water. You're either going to smell an added perfume or the scent of the chemical itself.

Pink Carnuaba Wax by BKB Automotive I think. It has no perfume.

S100/P21S is pretty mild.

Klasse Sealant Glaze is mild if i remember correctly.

Blitz wax seemed to have a mild scent.

303 Aerospace Protectant

303 Fabric Guard

Maybe Menzerna sealant

Clearkote Vanilla Moose
