which ones and why??? i have only used megs pads in the past....



yellow - not enough cutting action

red - really firm, but seems like too much sometimes



looking for something in between

Well I have tried propel yellow, green and blue pads. I was very happy with them. I have also used the LC pads too, orange and white. I think I perfer the yellow over LC orange for big swirl removals but they are very close. As far as the green propel vs the white LC pad. I really can't decide but I may be leaning towards the white pads. Either way you can't go wrong. If you are looking to save some money the propel pads are great. If you can spare the extra go for the LC. I think that in the end it will be more of combo of the product (polish/swirl remover) you use and your technique since both pads are great.

Don't know about LC pads, never used them. I was satisfied with Propel pads until I tried the new Propel P2 pads. They are a big improvement over the original Propels. They have scalloped edges and really hold up well. I've put pressure on the yellow P2 to remove some nasty defects that would have torn-up the original yellows. Seems like the foam doesn't break down as soon and the backing doesn't come loose.

I know once all my originals Propel wear out they will be replace with the P2s
 
The P2s are very durable. For the price they can't be beat. The velcro goes all the way to the edge of the pad. I have used them with PC and rotary, they have never let me down.
 
I know that this is throwing one from outside the mix of your question but have you considered the Edge 2000 system?
 
well what i wanted to do was find some pads for between the red and yellow of megs line...something with more cut than yellow and less than red

I too use the Meg's pads, and love them. Very user friendly with a decent price tag. To answer your question I would use the white LC pad for the in the middle approach you want.



Remember it's all about what works for "YOU". There are alot of salesmen on this forum, wich isnt a bad thing, but you "REALLY" have to figure it out what works for yourself, and please remember just because its cost a fortune doesent mean it's the best product. Trust me, I wasted some money in my time on over priced products........ :nomore:
 
I have LC pads...Edge classic pads...and Meg's..and Propels 4" and 7" and the propels work best for me....I like a flat pad with no cup or contours...I like the 4 inch for paint correction also..seems like less resistance and the pads works better...may take longer but better results...I think that is why a cyclo worrks so good...less surface resistance...



I was polishing the hood of my truck with a LC orange pad and was not getting any where fast..so I switched over to a 4" Propel pad with same polish..3M machine glaze..the 4" made fast work of the swirls...I believe you get a little more heat from a smaller pad as the PC does not seem to bog when you put some downward pressure on it...



All in all..The Propels have been great for me so far..velcro seems to have a good bond..the foam is not to absorbant sucking up product..but letting you use what is on the pad....I think the Propel yellow is between the megs red and yellow pad for cut..

I too am looking for a good pad to go in between my Meg's yellow and burgandy pads. Does anyone have any more input on pad size? I was thinking of going with LC orange pads to fill the gap. Anyways, Autogeek sells 5.5" orange pads in a 6 pack for $30, and their 6.5" pads are $55. Is there much of a difference between the two sizes?

I would recommend the LC orange pad as well. Danase has a nice "Choose your own pads" combo that you can also use your 10% discount to get an even lower price...good flexibility since you might not need to buy 6 orange pads at one time.
 
I like the scalloped Propel pads. I have one each of the blue, green, yellow, and orange. Even after much usage, they still look like brand new. Very clever design.
 
Rotary or PC use?



For something a little more aggressive than the yellow, I'd go with the Propel Orange. I really like the Propel Green pads, but they aren't any more aggressive than the MEgs yellow. The orange LC don't last very long...I used to have several. If you have a rotary, I like to use the white LC VC with a heavy compound for heavy cutting...the White LC VC with PG is an awesome combo that finishes down great.
