Customer said no to dealer prep

and asked me to prep his 350Z. It was my first new Z. It really handles well although I like a manual tranny. He requested Zaino so I clayed and Z2'd. My Camera didn't pick up the flake and the pics don't do it justice. One to follow....

:up I love 350z's, i have a few great pictures of one that Me and Corey prepped for a show. BEAUTIFUL!! I wont throw then in your thread though!

Good work, white is the hardest to work with

So I've never prepped a new car before. Just wondering how much junk the clay takes off on a new paint job. You always hear about rail dust etc...

sometimes the clay takes off enough that you can tell if the car was transported forward or backward on the trailer. Like the back bumper is really bad on the clay, or the front is. But the coolest is BMW, they transport ONLY in covered trailers, so you get no raildust or overspray!!

Not only that, when they are transporting the BMW's oversea's on the boats they are thickly covered in cosmoline wax for protection.

Thanks all, Nissan has very much improved its entire lineup. After I dropped off the Z.....I got another one .....It was a laid out Altima......A dark blue flake...looks almost black in the shade.....It had chrome wheels with a special chrome grill that I've never seen before ( Nissan stuff). Sorry I didn't have my Camera with me.....Had to be the nicest " dark blue" I've ever seen. I wonder if it's a color for the Z?......anybody know?

BMW went to Great lengths to protect my new car as described above but then the dealer adds swirls galore, it was very frustrating.

They do one slick thing that really impressed me. To prevent the dockworkers from beating the cars as they are moved on and off the ship they set the ECU to limit RPM until the receiving center deactivates or on some models until a set amount of miles it reached. That's a smart thing to do....

Actually, the only reason to get a stick 350Z would be personal preference, not performance. The automatic 350Z's are faster then the manuals, even while driven by professional drivers. The computer is THAT smart. Most people who own a 350Z and actually look into the car and do research about it know this, which is about 1 out of 5 :P
