I just deatailed my car yesterday and snapped a few pics right after. Will yall help me critique them, both the detailing and the pics themselves. You wont hurt my feelings I promise:cool: Thanks

Thanks. Unfortunately they aren't all AWD. The vr-4 is Twin Turbo, AWD, all wheel steering, 320HP. Mine is a base, which means fwd w/ 220HP, it's still pretty quick but it's no twin turbo. I used p21s cleanser and wax on it. It looks pretty good but I expected better after seeing some of the before and after pics on here. Oh well, I'm still pretty happy with the way it came out.

Before you waxed with S100, did you do any kind of prep work? Prep is what yeilds the results. If it were me I would use SEPC polish, topped with S100.



IMO that would be the easiest step to give your paint that "pop" youre looking for. That is if your paint is in good condition already. (It looks it)



However, if the paint feels rough, then you may need to clay. In this case... you can buy some detailing clay, use it, then SEPC, then S100. It should meet your needs. I promise. :)



Oh, if you dont belive me... check Scottwax's photo gallery. He uses SECP and S100 on a lot of the cars he does.

I agree with thevolvoguy, using S100 SEPC or P21S GEPC will do wonders for the paint. It will increase the shine/gloss and make the paint feel very slick. After that, just top with one or more coats of P21S.

The only thing I'm not happy with is that when you are up close and at the right angle there's still a lot of little swirls marks. I forgot to mention that I also used the meguiars premium paint cleaner for the swirls. I'm definately a newbie at all of this and everything I learned came from here. Any suggestions about that? Thanks again for everybodys help and compliments on the car

Great looking car. The car looks showroom new; actually better. Its got that super clean look but not gawdy shiny, you know like too much siliconey. What I really would like to know is; What do you use on that goofy grape Charger in the background? I assume that if you take care of that 3000gt you take care of the Charger as well. Does the Charger have original non-clear coated paint. Why don't you post some pictures and information on how you detail that too. Thanks. Got love that arrest me red color.:bow

Thanks for the compliments but the car really is no where near showroom condition. I guess it just looks super clean bc it was taken about 5 min after I had spent all afternoon washing it (it's trashed now, I had to drive to school in the snow:mad: :mad: :mad: !) Oh well. That charger in the background is my friends dads. He lives a couple streets down and all three of us spent the day detailing our cars. He had it completely restored and a LOT of engine work done to it (had it bored out). I don't know the exact specs though. He actually has two and he stacks them on top of each other in that garage on a lift. I'm not really into muscle cars but they're both really nice. The paint is not original but the color is. I'm not sure if its clearcoated or not. Mine isn't clearcoated btw, (is that bad)? Anyways, here's some pics I took of his car

From what I know the clear coat protects the paint from the elements. The paint won't fade or oxidize. Also its easier to wash. No its not bad to not have clear coating. You'll just have to clean and polish your paint more often. I don't get it SNOW in N.C. Nice work. Does your Dad's buddy use the expensive stuff like "Rally" wax or does he use S100 and all the stuff the guys use here?
 
Ok cleaned all the ice off tonight and got a pic where you can sort of see how many swirls marks are in it. Is this going to require a high speed buffer/professional to get out or am I not using the right stuff? I used meguiars medallion premium paint cleaner, then p21s polish then p21s wax.

Just some tips with shooting outdoors... try not to take pics on the "shadow-side" of the car, take pics on the lighted side... In addition... kneel or crouch down for a better angle than the common "standing shot"...
