House Paint on Leather Seats!

My first post here... a friend of mine recommended that this is the place to ask the questions..

I just purchased an 04 Chevy Avalanche, black with graphite leather seats. The idiot who owned it before me was a painter and chose not to clean up after his/her painting jobs.. so I have flecks of white paint on the steering wheel, leather seats .. you name it. There is not very much, but pretty annoying to see these tiny white flecks on nice leather.. what a shame. I'm sure it will come off with the right product, and cloth/abrasive cloth...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Welcome to the site!!! can you use your finger nail to remove them? That will tell me how well they are stuck to the leather....I would start with Woolite mixed on a 10/1 with water and then a soft plastic brush....Most all house paint is water based so that might lift the spots....if not then a APC (all purpose cleaner) would be my guess....done in a 10/1 mixed with water using the same process....again this is based on how loose they are on the surface....you want to use a rag and spray the solution on that then apply to the area and then brush lightly....this will keep from lifting any color from the seat...spraying on directly can cause some spotting if the solution is to strong

you might consider hair spray..it should remove the paint as it would remove ink..**** always try any method in an inconspicuous spot first**** :D

Hey Steve, First I would like to welcome you to DC.

I did a painters truck last fall and I used a leather cleaner on it and it worked awsome. If you would llike some I can give you the info on where you can buy it about 30 mins from your area.

Cheers
Chris

I was able to get the paint off this weekend. I used some leather cleaner, terry towel cloth and for the tougher ones, a very light steel wool  with the cleaner. Worked like a charm. Thanks for all your suggestions! :)
