New Guy Has wierd question

I have been lurking here on and off for a while now, but never registered because I could always find what I needed using the search option. :hide:

I am a painter at a independent body shop, and we sometimes repair/paint fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. If you have ever been around one, you know they are usually kept fairly nice, and always nice paint. Anyhow, while looking for the paint code on one today, (it was brand new) I found this written on one of the inside of the doors:

General Cleaning:

1 part Laundry Detergent

1 part Kerosene

1 part water

Rust:

1 part window cleaner

1 part apple cider vinagar

1 part water

So I've done my usual search, and come up with nothing. So what do you think of these mixtures? Too harsh? I wonder what they are specifically for, the body/boxes, or undercarraige/engine?

Well the general cleaning mix would certainly clean off most anything as well as any wax or sealant on the planet.

I don't know about the rust one, but the general cleaning formula is rather harsh... As zippy said, any LSP's on the paint would be gone. I know emergency vehicles are big, but you can buy QD's by the gallon lol.

I know it would remove any sealer or wax, I don't even know if that's what they reccommend it for. They do keep these trucks polished and some type of sealer/wax on them, so maybe its not for the paint. They just seem like wierd combonation of products that you normally don't associate with cleaning.

I've seen that Kerosene mixture before. I think it was in a motorcycle forum, one of the guys was a fireman and washed his bike with it. I think the kerosene gave a shine and flashed off. I really can't remember much. i don't think I'd do it. If I remember right the guy got flamed pretty good. :D (no pun intended!)
