Hey Guys & Gals,

First...thank you for all the information you all have provided me. Last weekend I detailed my Grand Prix. I decided to lug all my stuff to my summer rental home since it has a driveway and a garage to work in.

I started with Scratch X, but after doing one panel I didn't really like it...very difficult to buff out....did I use too much? It was applied with a PC and a white pad.

After struggling with the Scratch X I went to Megs #3 machine glaze, also applied with a PC and white pad. I love this product...it goes on easy and comes off easy....leaves a great shine too! I tried misting the pad with QD and that made working with the product even easier!

The #3 was followed by #26 paste done by hand. Again I think I used too much...it was a bear to buff out. Could I have misted the applicator with QD?

All the products were removed with MF towels from CMA...nice towels!

I also clayed my glass....damn are they smooth and slick....if you do this use car wash soap as a lube...QD is a ***** to get off the glass!

Anyway...check out the link below for the pictures I took afterwards...it was a cloudy day and it poured that evening, but I got some sunny shots the day after.

Let me know what you think and thanks again for all the help!

I often recommend Scratch X by hand but thats only for those who do not have a PC. When I use Scratch X, I use only a small amount and I use the viking large foam applicator. I learned to use Scratch X before I had a PC on smaller areas that had scratches. Especially on one area/panel that a shoping cart had struck. It took several application but it did remove most of the scratch.

I use the liquid #26 just because it is easier to use with a PC and I like the fact that it did not stain my trim.

Which polish to use is always a tough decision. I have used Meguiars #9 and like it but it only removes very light swirls. I have use 3M fine cut rubbing compound and like it. I was able to break the fcrc down enough using the PC without having to follow up with a SMR. This is one area of detailing I would like to know more about. There are so many polishes and so many different surfaces to use the polish on it becomes a real challenge. Of course if it was easy anyone could do it. Thank gob for Autopia.

You car car looks good, keep up the good work!

BoxterCharlie........I love the pics I took during the thunderstorm...I was amazed at how small the beads were!

I've never had a wax repel water like that......I think I'm in love with #26!
