Wash/Wax packages?

For your wash and wax packages do you clay or just use a one-step, and then explain to the customers the difference if claying was done prior to waxing?

I'm not sure I understand your question. You should clearly show your customers what a simple low level wash/wax package involves. Then you can tell them about the other levels, which include claying, polishing etc...

I've seen some detailers who all ready include the claying in their wash/wax package. I was wondering how many of you include it. I feel it would help your upsell to not include it, but show the customer the difference and let them know you can do it the next time you come. Sorry for the confusion.

Its included in my wash and wax *pakage*.

The customers who want just a wash and wax have no idea that i claybar. All they know is their paint is smooth as glass when they come to pick it up.

What do you start your prices out at for that package?

I don't usually include it in my wash/wax, but when I demonstrate the difference to the customer they will ask for claying 95% of the time. I charge an extra $20.00 for claying which is probably too cheap considering the cost of the clay. It takes me about 30 mins to clay a car unless I'm doing a "concours" detailing where it will take about 45 mins.

I wish someone would make bulk clay available--for a reasonable price.

I go by an hourly rate of $35.

Small cars-1-2 hours

midsize cars-2-4 hours

large cars- 4-6 hours

Full size trucks and suvs i up the hourly rate to $45 and i quote 6-8 hours.

I always inspect the vehicle prior and give a quote on a total. If it takes me an hour or 2 longer than i quoted those extra hours are free of charge. If it takes less time than i quoted then i subtract from the quote.

My wash and wax "package" includes:

Wash:

paint

wheels

tires

wheel wells

(Claybar as i wash)

AIO type product applied with PC.

Pure wax/sealant applied by hand.

Dress wheel wells and tires.

Quick interior vaccum, quick dash wipe down, quick interior glass cleaning.

The interior stuff i do quickly and only as an added bonus.

I dont tell customers i do that though.

Full paint correction i start at $45 an hour, but thats a subject for another thread :xyxthumbs
