Leather flaking off steering wheel

Last night, while wiping down the interior of my '04 G35, I discovered that the leather is starting to flake off my steering wheel (at the 9:00 position) where I keep my hand the majority of the time. Is there anything I can do stop if from getting worse, or at least slow it down?
