hey everybody,

i have to say this is a great forum. i might actually learn something if i'm not careful. i have a set of polished stainless steel headers on my hot rod. they have some "blue-ing" going on and it is starting to annoy me. what products would you recommend to remove it ?? also, is there something that i could use that would help prevent or slow down the "blue-ing" process ?? i was going to try blue away, but a buddy at work said it really didn't help any with the stainless steel exhaust on his harley.

thanks in advance for any info you can provide

You can try Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. Last time I had my car on the lift I just rubbed a section of the headers and IIRC the yellow and blue marks came right off. AFAIK theres nothing that will stop that from happening. Ive heard of ZOOP SEAL which is supposed to keep your polished metals looking good for up to a year, but its expensive and I dont know if it could hold up to the heat of the headers. Hope this helps !!!
