LC CCS Orange 6.5" pads for PC7424. PITA to work with?

I just recently opened up a new one and slapped it on the PC for some SIP polishing on a recent detail. Well, not only is it larger than the backing plate, it's exceptionally hard, and was horrible to work with. It was too hard and seemed to want to skip across the paint rather than soften down and grab onto it. Anyone else like/use these pads? So far, the experience has been less than optimal.

It seems as if the latest batch of orange pads are stiffer than in the past. I'd wash them and see if they soften up some.

Its definitely a harder pad. It also bogs down very easily with any pressure. Pick up a 5.5 inch flat lake country pad. Autogeek is having a close out on them right now and they spin much faster than the 6.5 ccs orange. IMO, they are much easier to work with.

That's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm gonna pick up some flat LC orange's the next go-around. These things are :nomore:

yup. I soak it in hot water first, seems to soften it up nicely! then just spin it for a while to fling the water out

great idea, im going to go try that right now!

When I use the orange pad with my rotary, I dip the pad in water and spin it dry. It seems to work fine. However if you attempt to use it with a PC, the orbiting motion might cause the heavy pad to fling off.
