Am I right or Am I wrong here?

It's priced right...if not to low. That's a black Bimmer.....hard *** clear. I don't even haggle with pricing anymore now that I have enough clients. Heck, I'll price a bad one a 100 to high just to get out of it.....problem is that they usually take it.

That car looks absolutely flawless........I bet better than the day it was bought.

Like me, you have to realize that these are forums. A 12 year old can act like a 40 year old on the internet. As long as you and your customers are happy, all is good. They are just mad that you got paid.

$300 isn't bad considering you spent at least 10 hours on it, and that doesn't include your drive time to and from the client, as well as the products or clean up time. Detailing is a combination of knowledge and hard manual labor and these "experts" should know what the going rate is.

I don't think there really is a right or wrong, except that you have the right to express your opinion. If someone (including a bulletin board site) denies you of the right to express your opinion, or censures your statement (granted if the opinion isn't offensive or denegrates an individual's rights), then doing this is wrong.

It is for this reason that I hand select the websites that I choose to participate with, and (unfortunately) share less with my experiences. It seems that some people take opportunites on websites to really trash talk and put themselves on podiums. Another thing is that a lot of websites have "clicks", in that if you have an issue with a certain poster, then all of a sudden several posters will get on your case, regardless of whether you are in the right.

My motto is that if I know something works, then I'll use that methodology regardless of what other people think; If there are ears willing to hear some of my experiences, then those are the times that I will choose to share it. Do not be afraid, however, to speak your mind when you know that the information is wrong, regardless of the repercussions. That is a basic American right that no one should deprive others of having!

I don't want to be a jerk

i dono i really like the comments that they guy made but i'm gonna have to say you got a little defensive

I think I would have just asked them what they thought could have been done better. If they didn't think the quality was worth the price, they should have pointed out what they saw that wasn't perfect on the paint correction. Plus they're making their judments on pictures after the car was driven a day. My black car gets dirty from sitting in the garage, let alone driving it. I probably would have gotten just as defensive even though it may have been a little overdefensive.

I live in M.D. on the other side of the W.W. Bridge and I know how expensive things are in V.A. Honestly for the work and time you put out you could have charged more. You did a fantastic job on the detail, you got paid, and the customer was happy enough to post about your work. I would consider this a win. Some fool saying he could do this or that; after the fact, should totally be ignored. Man there is always going to be somebody way out in leftfield saying he can do better. Haters, i hate em.

Thomas, I don't think you were overly defensive. We all know you do fantastic work and are justifiably proud of it. If these toolbags think they can do better then fine but no need to cut up your work. I'm just amazed like yourself that guys who own cars that cost anywhere from $50-70K think $300 was expensive. Um this is the DC area kids, not rural America. If anything you did charge too little for what you put into the car.

Sneek, if I looked at your work (whatever your occupation is) and then said "Gee it's not bad but I could do better for less" how would you feel? I've heard similar comments from people who don't think detailing is a "real" profession or that it's worth paying for. I guess we shouldn't let it bother us or get aggravated over but it's a matter of pride.
