Zaino Z-18 Clay Bar
From the Zaino Bros' Website:
Zaino Z-18 Clay Bar quickly and safely removes contamination. Makes your paint feel smooth as glass!
Zaino Z-18 Clay Bar is a pliable, synthetic detail clay bar that quickly and safely removes embedded contamination from all glass and painted surfaces. Used for years by automobile manufacturers and auto body shops, paint cleaning clay is an excellent choice for removing contamination that cannot be removed using conventional cleaning methods.
Zaino Z-18 Clay Bar is non-abrasive and works like no cleaner, compound or chemical can. When used as directed, it is safe for use on all paint finishes.
Use Zaino Z-18 Clay Bar to help remove the following:
Rail dust - Tiny, sharp bare metal shavings that can adhere and embed into the paint finish and cause serious damage when left untreated. Over 70% of new vehicles are transported from the factory using the rail system. In many cases, new cars are stored near a railroad and becomes infected with rail dust.
Brake Dust - Similar to rail dust, brake dust is also in the form of tiny, sharp metal shavings. In recent years, asbestos brake pads were replaced with metallic brake pads, which are actually brake pads made from tiny metal or metallic shavings. Anytime a vehicle is braking; brake dust is disbursed into the air and onto the paint finish. Since the brake dust is now actually tiny particles of bare metal, this form of brake dust can seriously damage the paint finish when left untreated.
Industrial Fallout - A general term used for pollution and can be found in many forms. Eventually, pollution settles onto the paint finish of all vehicles and can cause serious damage when left untreated.
Tree Sap, Road Tar, Bug Residue, Paint Overspray, and Acid Rain Deposits -- These contaminants adhere to or imbed into the paint finish. Left untreated, they will cause permanent damage to your car's paint work by staining and weakening the protective properties.
Zaino Z-18 Clay Bar is highly recommended as the ultimate way to clean and prepare your car's finish prior to using the Zaino Show Car Polish system.

Summary
Excellent, flexible clay! (October 28, 2004)
Reviewer's Comments
I've had this clay for about three weeks and have clayed two cars with it. It works very well.
- The "bite" seems just about right for light to medium duty cleaning.
- It is very flexible and folds easily, even when cool.
- The yellow color works well to show dirt. I.e., it's easy to see when it's time to fold.
- I use the storage container jar to store the clay permanently. I just spritz the partially used clay with clay lube (Zaino Z7 and water mix), pop it in the jar and screw on the lid.
- The cost is reasonable and it comes WITHOUT clay lube. So, you are not paying for expensive clay lube. Making clay lube out of wash soap (Z7) is much better and cheaper.
I liked this MUCH better than the Blackfire Polyclay.

MICROWAVE (May 11, 2004)
Reviewer's Comments
Just thought I would add a tip to you all that feel the bar is too hard and not pli-able enought. Pop it in the microwave for a minute or so and soften it up. or if its hot outside just put the container in your car with the windows up and let it get soft. Works great and no ill effects on it!

Newer Z18 bars softer? (May 10, 2004)
Reviewer's Comments
I've been using Z18 clay bars for several years now, and the one I've used recently that i've bought in the past month seems dramatically different from the ones I've bought before. These new ones were soft, easy to fold, and felt a lot like putty after a while. Personally, as much as the old hard clay bars were a chore to fold, i prefer them more because they seem better at cleaning and getting rid of surface crud, and also more durable. The softer clay bars annoyed me after a few minutes because it was just spreading everywhere like putty. Maybe i got a defective or different batch, but I'll stick with the harder, more difficult to fold claybars please.

Summary
Not Up To Zaino Standards (April 4, 2003)
Reviewer's Comments
I’ve been using Zaino products for over 3 years with excellent results. Their polish and car wash are so easy to use, with always excellent results. So I decided to give their Clay Bar a try. Big mistake!
I’ve tried quite a few different bars over the years including Clay Magic, Mothers and Griots, with Griots being my favorite so far. The Zaino bar fails in one major area, Flexibility! This bar just about has none, and is a real bear to try and fold. Don’t get me wrong, it does a great job claying, with not a hint of residue, but trying to fold this bar is not something that’s very fun.
Needless to say I won’t be buying this bar again.

Summary
Hard to be folded:Z18 (October 21, 2002)
Reviewer's Comments
Z18 was my first contact with clay ever :
Instructions : excellent : wrapped around the box was an extra sheet with all the instructions for the claybar , in a typical Zaino-style : no fancy things :just a clear simple explanation for the why of claying & instructions for use
Packaging:In a little round box with a lit that screws on you find two peaces of clay , each peace wrapped in plastic : packaging: excellent
Ease of use : No denying it , Z18 IS verry hard to fold and mold. And therefor you need to be verry cautious not to drop the claybar.Ifound that when you fold the claybar in a bucket of carwash-soap it goes a little better.Downside of that is that the claybar can get oversaturated with water, then you need to let it airdry for half a day and your fine again.
Residue: found none : meaning: while I clay I have a bucket of carwash next to me , and after I have clayed a section I go over it with a sponge , rince and go on to the next section.
Surface prep : outstanding: meaning : every dirt that was embedded in my car's surface was removed. The car was 1 year old that first time and I can assure you that there was dirt on and in that paint.Felt gritty before , was as smooth as baby's b*tt after.
MFG claims : good :clay does what MFG says it should do
Value : worth the asking price: 26.95 Euro is what I've payed for it.Not cheap but worth it (MHO).
Final conclusion:
Z18 is a pricy, hard to fold yet verry effective clay
