Summary Awesome product (October 12, 2009)

Reviewer's Comments

I found this product to be the perfect companion to use in between applications of NXT tech wax or Megs #21. All have the hydrophobic polymers to enhance water beading. Using the UQD I think extends the life of your sealant. Very easy to use, just mist on and wipe off with a MF towel. Use it just after washes bring back that just freshed waxed look.

Ultimate Quik Detailer and another product from Megs, Ultimate Quik Wax are the perfect compliments to Nxt and M21.

Summary slicker than most liquid and paste waxes. (December 28, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

I have used several quick detailers now; my favorites being mothers california gold instant detailer, eagle one wipe n shine, and now this product. i think that this product feels simmilar to the mothers spray when it comes to slickness.. but the mothers does not maintain its slickness for more than a few days. This product really is more of a spray wax on steroids.. it smells okay, mabye a little strong, goes on really easy like a quick detailer though. the only thing that i dislike at all ( other than the high price) is how fine of a mist the sprayer makes because if its windy, it gets blown away. i was amazed by how slick this made by car that was just waxed last week, with 3m performance finnish (long lasting but not so slick, or great looking sealant.).. i think until i find a reason to stop, i am just going to wash my car once or twice a week as always, and then spray with this... awesome product.. and increadibly slick... expect to see an update sometime to let you know about the durability and beading properties.

update, i really llike the look of this over the 3m.. it rained again today, and the beads were very impressive. very high... but i cant tell if this is just my 3m, or if its the quick detailer... reguardless. it does seem to make the finnish seem a little darker, and does ass slickness.
i will continue to use this product about once a week while using 3m for the winter.

Another update... its been about a month. and i have 2/3 of the bottle left.. i like to use this on wheels, my sprayer crapped out on my, just randomly stopped working...

Summary Good Product (September 10, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

I was reluctant to buy UQD because of the price. After reading reviews on the internet, i decided to try. After waxing, spraying it on adds to the depth of the color and definitely enhances whatever wax you are using. It enhances beading too.

The misting spray bottle took getting used to, and shouldn't be used on windy days.

Summary favorite QD (September 3, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

This has replaced PB's Spray & Gloss as my favorite QD. The product goes on easily and removes with no streaking. UQD can be used on glass ( a bonus for me, unlike ICE QD or Griot's Garage Speed Shine). Beads water for a while afterward and leaves the surface slick. Look at Target stores for a 2 for $12 special. (definitely increases its value potential).

Summary Makes the Cut (August 17, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

I'm not real fond of it as an actual "QD" because other than VERY light dust; I don't feel like it cleanses the surface that well or has enough slickness for me to feel safe using it.

It DOES bead very well for about a week after application. It absolutely makes metallics "pop"; esp. darker metallics (like red or blue).

Definitely adds a "look" similar to a sealant to the paint. Not terribly slick and doesn't add depth.

I love the Meg's fine mist sprayers and have found them to be durable.

Its a little overpriced but keep an eye out; Meg's stuff often goes on sale at all major retailers; its worth trying. I prefer to use it after-washing on a dry surface.

I won't buy any more; as Meg's Last Touch works better for my purposes. Looks better; is more economical and works great as a clay lube.

Summary Meguiar's UQD (August 9, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

I was a fan of TW's Ice QD, but UQD is far better. I just finished putting a second coat of P21S on the car, and I figured I would see how it would make my carnival red (burgundy) Jag look. I was stunned by how it gave my paint a deeper shine. It was almost dark when I finished so I can't wait to see how it looks in the sun.

Summary Review of Meguiar's UQD (July 8, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

Just tried UQD for the first time. The other QD's I currently use are #425, DG Marine Detailer, Z6 and a few others.

I never really liked Meguiar's fine mist sprayer, but you get used to it. It's fine for use indoors, but the breeze carries some of the product away when used outside. Otherwise, the bottle is a nice shape and the graphics are attractive.

It has a nice, clean smell. Thankfully, it's different than the NXT products' Key Lime smell, which I don't care for.

UQD speads easily and clears out quickly. I had no trouble with streaking (indoors, cool finish). It works very well on glass, too. Cleaning power is good, it removes bugs and light waterspotting well.

UQD looks good on my silver and white cars (I also tried it on my red tool box). I wouldn't say the look blows you away, but it leaves a nice gloss. I would say the look is similar to #425, but not in Z8's league (which is a different type of product, of course). Z6 looks better on the white car than either #425 or UQD. On the silver car, the three look similar. [my cars have a base of either Zaino or AJ with post wash applications of AW or Z8]

Slickness is good, but not super. Water beading is ok, but I wouldn't say it's as good as they claim. It does sheet water very well, however.

All in all, it's a good product. I feel the price is a little high, though. I'd say $7.99 for the 22oz. bottle is more appropriate.

**Update: I've changed my opinion about UQD's beading ability. I used it on my other car, then washed this car a few days later. It beaded exceptionally well.. similar to Collinite #845.

Summary Daily driver favourite (June 11, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

Easy to find and definitely lives up to its claims! Gives my daily driver an excellent finish when I need a quick touch up, and does a great job at beading water (providing that surface tension) for about a week after use.

Summary Beats TW-ICE QD! (March 10, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

Very good product...I agree with the above post. Do Not Let Product Freeze!!!!...I have made this mistake as well....Sprays evenly..very very slick, and great sheeting action...Wonderful when used after wash to dry up spots + leaves surface with that "just waxed" look and feel...Of course it would never replace a good ol wax..but you guys get what I mean....Overall, at 9.99+tax, its not bad...it costs the same as TW-ICE QD, but I'd probably get UQD over TWICE QD....

Things I don't like about UQD..if you have a lsp or several coars on the car, it may not agree/bond and cause streaking...maybe it was just me not properly using the product..who knows..all in all, I've only ran across that problem once/twice...but have been successful the other 14-15 times

Summary My new favorite QD (March 10, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

The Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer is possibly my favorite detailing product that is currently available on the market. When used in conjunction with either a sealant like NXT 2.0 or carnauba wax like #26, , the slickness, gloss, and clarity of the base product improves significantly. Even on a lightly soiled car, a spray of this product leaves the paint extremely clean while recovering any lost gloss. I was a strong fanatic for the Turtle Wax ICE spray detailer, but after using the UQD and witnessing the sheeting and beading properties of this product, I'm hooked.

PROS: Great size (22oz.), Nice Smell, Beading, Ridiculous sheeting, Fine Mist (as opposed to stream spray), availability (Wal-Mart, Advance Auto, Target, etc.), Baby Bottom Slickness

CONS: If left in car during winter, product will freeze. I made this mistake with TWO bottles, rendering both useless after freezing in the car in Northern Virginia. While the cleaning properties remained in the product, the slickness aspect, as well as the sheeting/beading aspects were gone. Don't leave it in the car, store in the house at room temperature. Price - While $10USD may not be a lot of money to some, Meguiar's regular QD, now on closeout, is about 70% of this product for half the price. I purchased all of Advance Auto's normal QD supply (5 bottles) at $2.97 a bottle and will use it for claying or spot QD jobs. Clay - UQD CANNOT BE USED AS A CLAY LUBE.

Other than these glaring cons, this is still, by far, an outstanding product that must be used to be believed. It's that good.

Summary WOW! Great product! (March 10, 2008)

Reviewer's Comments

This is a fantastic product! One of the best products from Meguiar's. The bottle is awesome, fits in your hand perfectly. It smells good, and leaves a nice shine, while removing light dirt without scratching the paint. Maybe a little overpriced, but I haven't tried anything cheaper that worked any better.

Little overpriced, works well. Bottle is much better than the typical meguiar's bottle that usually leaks around the sprayer.
